Forest Spa Finland and Sulapac unveil sustainable Nordic Adaptogen Supplement packaging
09 Dec 2021 --- UK-based skincare wellness brand Forest Spa Finland is partnering with packaging provider Sulapac to meet the demand for clean and natural skincare and sustainable packaging. Sulapac’s Premium material will be used for the Nordic Adaptogen Supplements’ product packaging.
“The packaging material of Forest Spa Finland’s Nordic Adaptogen Supplement jar is made of wood chips and plant-based binders. The wood we use is a by-product of industrial sidestreams that originate from sustainably managed forests,” Suvi Haimi, co-founder and CEO of Sulapac, tells PersonalCareInsights.
“The material is processable with existing injection molding machinery. Our experts assist with the tests and production settings from mold selection to nozzle size. This 100% bio-based material biodegrades without leaving permanent microplastics behind.”
Sulapac material mimics the aesthetics, usability and circularity of nature, she continues.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the connection to nature as a resource for wellness became a part of all of our lives, Daniel Collins, founder and brand director of Forest Spa Finland, also tells PersonalCareInsights.
“Beauty consumers shifted away from quick fixes and found a new connection to their well-being as well as a deeper understanding of the ingredients that they choose to use and their impact on the planet.”
Adaptogen ingredient potential
Forest Spa Finland’s Nordic Adaptogen Supplements are made from Nordic sourced adaptogens, formulated to enhance physiological health and overall wellness. The brand is bringing new skincare wellness products to the market in 2022.
Colins adds that it was essential to “find ingredients that could impact both skin health and overall wellness from within when choosing the ingredients for the Nordic Adaptogen Supplements.”
“We use ingredients such as chaga mushroom – sourced sustainably from Finnish forests – rhodiola rosea, wild bilberry and pine bark. These ingredients have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and skin brightening properties, and are packed with minerals and natural vitamins A, C and D,” explains Collins.
The chaga mushroom can help the immune system fight the impact of stress on the body. This can, in turn, help boost energy and mood. He adds that it also combats the impact of hormonal changes that stress can trigger.
Sulapac’s premium material
Forest Spa Finland chose Sulapac’s Premium material for a “unique” look, with large and visible wood chips showcasing that the material is made of sustainably sourced raw materials.
Collins adds that consumers want brands to help them make more accessible sustainability choices through accessibility.
“Brands will need to work harder and innovate further to meet consumers’ needs.”
There is a great need to move on to more sustainable packaging solutions in the beauty industry on a large scale, adds Haimi.
“Sulapac material is industrially compostable. Therefore, if it ends up in a landfill or nature due to unfortunate misuse, it biodegrades, just like a piece of wood in nature, without leaving permanent microplastics or toxic residues behind,” she continues.
Sulapac has also collaborated on packaging with Chanel, Haeckels, Green People and Stop The Water While Using Me.
The packaging company also collaborated with Quadpack and Manik Skincare to bring biodegradable and eco packaged solutions.
