“Powered by NASA tech”: Réduit rockets to US markets with personalized Boost skincare
24 May 2022 --- Swiss beauty-tech brand Réduit has launched Réduit Boost, a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) powered smart technology to US markets. The personalization device identifies active ingredients within skincare products. It releases a unique waveform via pulsed electromagnetic field technology, pushing the components deeper into the skin where it is required.
“One of the major issues in the beauty industry and products today, that not many people are aware of, is that only 4% of active ingredients in favorite products are absorbed into the skin,” Paul Peros, CEO and founder of Réduit tells PersonalCareInsights.
“This is why we created the Réduit Boost device, a smart skincare device that gives the skin more of the exact actives that it needs and where they’re needed the most. This was a gap in the market that no other brand was paying attention to. No device out there allows consumers to push active ingredients exactly where they need to go, without any product wastage.”
“Réduit Boost provides four times better absorption for any skincare product,” says the brand. The product is also touted as the “world’s first” personalized device that works with an existing skincare routine (creams, serums, essences, lotions and masks).
The product has won two 2022 Cosmoprof Awards for Skin Care & Personalized Care Products and the top position in CosmoTrends Beauty By Numbers: Tech-celeration delivers precision personalization. “The two wins make RÉDUIT the only brand in 2022 to receive both honors,” claims the brand.
“With Boost, we applied proven and practical NASA-level physics for the beauty industry that radically increases the effectiveness of the products they already use,” says Paul Peros, CEO at Réduit.
Bespoke skincare routine
When pairing Boost with active ingredients, in-vivo testing showed a “dramatic” increase.
UV Protecting agents were increased by 1.5 times and antioxidants by 2.4 times. Also, brightening agents were doubled, hydrating agents by 5.6 times, and anti-aging agents increased by 2.2 times.
“Matched with a specially selected LED Light (chosen through the personal information given to the app), Boost gives the most efficient and bespoke skincare routine,” says the brand.
The device also provides an at-home LED photo facial, with up to five times better results in 30 seconds.
How does the device work?
Users can add their “age, gender, ethnicity, skin type, skin tone, specific skin concerns, skincare products he/she is using, and climate factors” to the app, suggests Peros. They can then scan their skincare products. The information syncs with the device to determine skin needs and ingredient depth – “all in order to generate a unique code which then translates into the waveform and gets downloaded to the applicator, ready to be used.”
“Not all actives belong on the same layer of skin. Antioxidants, for example, need to be in the deepest layers of the epidermis to function to its highest capability. Brightening and hydrating agents belong in the middle layers and UV protection agents should be at the surface. Plus, it all depends on your own skin and its needs,” explains Peros.
“Based on all this data Réduit Boost’s smart technology identifies the active ingredients in the skincare products and automatically adjusts its waveform to push the right ingredients into the skin at the right depth.”
“Antioxidants, for example, need to be at the deepest layers of the epidermis to function. Brightening and hydrating agents belong in the middle layers, and UV protection agents should be at the surface,” notes the brand.
In French, ‘Réduit’ means ‘reduced,’ explains the brand, aiming to reduce packaging, time and steps for beauty.
“The future of beauty”
Peros believes that the future of the beauty industry trends and devices are shifting towards personalization, LED light therapy, at-home treatments, inclusivity and skin minimalism.
“More than ever we see that consumers are searching for solutions that will perfectly fit their needs. It is not enough to just fit the skin type anymore, but you should take into consideration the age, gender, skin type, skin tone, ethnicity, and geolocation. This is also connected with AI,” he shares.
“Consumers are expecting clinic-grade treatments available in the comfort of their own homes.”
Réduit believes that beauty innovations should be practical, easy to use and not too expensive to buy to “elevate” the user experience.
“At Réduit, we endeavor to bring practical innovation to the beauty industry,” adds Peros.
“When I designed the product, I wanted to solve an age-old problem. How can we make our skincare more effective?”
“The Boost is designed to fit perfectly into the palm, and the device glides effortlessly over the skin delivering alternating vibrations for a relaxing, facial massage vibration,” shares the brand.
The device works with an accompanying app.
