Weekly Roundup: Dermala extends eczema-prone skincare range, EcoChoice Compostable Dental Flossers unveiled

US-based personal care company Muse Health partnered with United Help Ukraine to get 200,000 bottles of hand sanitizer and hand washes to Ukraine hygiene stations, hospitals and health facilities. Meanwhile, Univar Solutions introduced “Destination: Innovation,” an online hub highlighting the people, technology and ingredient innovation featured at its Solutions Centers.

Hask Beauty and Amazon have partnered to sell the Hask Body Wash collection on Amazon’s site. The products are ph-balanced, hypoallergenic and dermatologist-tested. The body wash collection products include Coconut Oil, Shea & Cocoa Butter, Lavender & Vanilla and Cucumber & Aloe. The Coconut Oil adds hydration and nourishment to dry skin. The Shea & Cocoa Butter is pegged as “deeply moisturizing” with a scent of vanilla. The Lavender & Vanilla may reduce inflammation and give the skin a healthy appearance. Lastly, the Cucumber & Aloe may reduce free radicals and aid skin health.
Univar Solutions introduced its “Destination: Innovation,” an online hub highlighting the people, technology and ingredient innovation found in its network of global Solution Centers made up of technical laboratories that support product development, testing and advancement across industries and geographies. The “Innovation Day” virtual event will be held on June 22 to showcase a complete suite of capabilities through a daylong program of on-demand industry, application and specialty ingredient formulation conversations from each of the company’s Solution Center locations. Customers and suppliers will have the opportunity to interact directly with the scientists, chefs and technical teams that work every day on their behalf to bring innovation to the forefront of product development and advancement.
US-based hygiene provider Dial partnered with seven notable experts in their fields of skin, science, medicine, education, wellness and environmental sustainability to form the Count on Clean Crew. The crew will educate consumers on Dial products and sustainability initiatives. The partnership members include a board-certified dermatologist, a teacher, a registered nurse, a wellness content creator, a board-certified pediatrician, a parent and a sustainability content creator.

In partnership with Emily Yeston, lifestyle media figure and author Garance Doré introduced a French-inspired beauty brand, Doré. The brand is pegged as a line of simple, clean and effective products, all made in France. The line includes three products. Firstly Le Cleanser is a gel to milk cleanser that removes makeup and cleans and hydrates skin. The second product La Crème is a daily moisturizer that evens skin tone and may reduce signs of aging. Lastly, Le Baume is a multi-purpose balm formulated with clinically proven ingredients to repair and moisturize the skin. It is to be used on any area of the body or face that is dry or chapped. All products are fragrance-free and suitable for sensitive skin according to the brand.
Fragrance company Benigna Parfums has released its Royal Essence Collection, featuring seven fragrances, including Supreme Majesty, Extravagant, Ancient Wisdom, Greatness, Worthiness, Splendor Grandeur and Royal Bouquet. The seven scents were inspired and created after royal kingdoms from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Japan, Qatar, Morocco and Britain. The Royal Essence Collection’s bond with Royalty is further enhanced by Benigna Parfums’ bottle cap design. The fragrances are designed with the Royal Collection’s bottle cap that dates back to the fifteenth century when English monarchs chose a crown design closed by arches.
US-based dental flosser brand Plackers released its EcoChoice Compostable Dental Flossers, pegged as environmentally sustainable dental flossers. The flossers are designed to be 100% biodegradable and can decompose after 26 weeks in a home or industrial composter. According to Plackers, the EcoChoice Compostable Flossers comprise Danimer Scientific’s PHA, a biopolymer derived from canola oil, natural silk floss, and coconut coating. The flossers are available for purchase on Amazon.
Skincare solutions provider Dermala extended its product range to include a second microbiome-powered line of topical and oral products for eczema-prone skin. The new line features Soothe Operator and Microbiome Builder products formulated with microbiome-derived prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics. The products re-balance gut and skin microbiomes and strengthen the skin barrier while reducing inflammation and soothing eczema-prone, itchy, dry, and sensitive skin. According to Dermala, the Soothe Operator is a moisturizing cream that serves as a skin barrier to aid in protection and repair. The second product, the Microbiome Builder, is an oral product that features antioxidants and spinach leaf extracts. The dietary supplement also features skin-friendly probiotics and prebiotics that help “calm” inflammation.

Japan-based Oryza group’s CeraLOK product has received authorization from Health Canada. The authorization focuses on CeraLOK Rice Ceramide Powder study findings that include the product’s benefits for skin hydration to maintain healthy skin. The authorized use of these health claims is based on a daily dose of 40 mg. The CeraLOK is pegged as “the crème de la crème” of phytoceramide offerings in the ingredient marketplace. Rich in glucosyl ceramides, CeraLOK is supported by published human studies supporting potential moisturizing and skin hydration claims.
Community outreach
With US-based Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law taking effect, Lush Cosmetics has created a limited-edition Gay is OK soap to help support Equality Florida, the state’s leading civil rights organization dedicated to ensuring complete equality for Florida’s LGBT community. Signed into law by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ law limits or prohibits classroom instruction on LGBTQ issues in schools. Lush’s twelve Florida shops will participate in the campaign standing in solidarity with LGBTQ youth, their families, and educators across the state who will be affected by this law. The soap featuring the Gay is OK message will be available in Florida stores and online. Lush aims to raise US$50,000 for Equality Florida’s defense fund to support those impacted by the new legislation in selling the soap.
Muse Health, a division of CC Wellness, donated hand sanitizer for hand hygiene stations and other hospital and health facilities. The donated 2.1 million ounces of product – a strict USP grade (US Pharmacopeia) hand sanitizer and hand wash – is distributed in Ukraine by United Help Ukraine, a Maryland-based nonprofit organization. Muse Health had already donated more than 55,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to those in need before this initiative. The Muse Health hand sanitizer is pegged to kill 99.9% of germs in 15 seconds while nourishing and hydrating skin with vitamin E and glycerin.
