The Estée Lauder Companies announced “net zero" emissions for its direct operations. OphirMilano unveiled sustainable packaging by Quadpack for its new skincare line. Sofwave Medical won an award for its non-invasive ultrasound technology for wrinkles and loose skin.
Meanwhile, body care brand Degree Deodorant has hosted the “world’s first” marathon in the Metaverse, called the “Metathon.” The brand makes claims regarding social inclusivity for the virtual athletic event, saying it seeks to make a “more inclusive culture of movement in the new virtual world.” Grammy-nominated recording artist Fat Joe and paralympic athlete Blake Leeper took part in the event, along with the Decentraland cryptocurrency community. According to Degree, 60% of Metaverse users believe the virtual world lacks inclusivity. The event sought to identify the needs of underrepresented “movers” in the Metaverse. The brand plans to partner with experts to advocate for solutions to make virtual spaces more inclusive for those of different races, genders and ability statuses.
The Estée Lauder Companies announced it had achieved “net zero” emissions and sources “100%” renewable electricity for its global direct operations. This means the company has reached its target set upon joining the RE100 campaign in 2017. Estée Lauder also met its goal to set science-based emission reduction targets for its direct operations and value chain. The news positions the company ahead of competitors to become climate secure for the coming decade. Estée Lauder has sponsored Climate Week NYC for six consecutive years and is part of a growing group of companies addressing climate change with marketing, NPD and other operations.

Italy-based OphirMilano is teaming up with Quadpack and Biopharma Group to switch up the product packaging for its new skincare range. The new range will offer an anti-aging cream, mattifying gel and face scrub made from natural and eco-friendly formulas. With a Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC)-certified Woodacity Solo Turn wooden cap and Regula Glass jar by OphirMilano is upping its environmental sustainability credibility. Quadpack’s Woodacity cap is made from wood alone and has no plastic inserts. The Regula Glass jar is recyclable akin to normal glass and is also aesthetically pleasing enough for potential reuse and repurposing by the consumer.
Aesthetic procedure company Sofwave Medical has nabbed the “Best Latest in Ultrasound” award for the 2022 NewBeauty Awards for its non-invasive ultrasound technology. The company’s Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam technology promises to revitalize skin and stimulate collagen production using high-frequency ultrasonic waves. The technology is FDA-cleared for eyebrow lifting and lifting loose skin below the chin and neck. It is also approved to treat facial lines and wrinkles.

Shiseido is revising its code of conduct and ethics to generate greater trust between employees and stakeholders and facilitate business. The “Shiseido Code of Conduct and Ethics,” is being updated to reflect the realities and ethical trends of the modern world and will give special attention to growing awareness of human rights, social diversity, privacy and sustainability. The new document will also contain links to relevant laws and a Q&A section.
