Siita developed a new technology to dramatically speed its plastic waste decomposition, while Codex Beauty Labs launched “a global first” microbiome-friendly bath salts.
Cosmetic plastics and packaging solutions
Siita developed a technology to speed the decomposition process of plastics from 500 years to three months. The achievement is touted as the “world’s first and only zero-waste enterprise” to treat its plastic waste. The company has gained celebrity backing from Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner and K-pop singer CL.
RDP Skincare partnered with wood chip-based packaging provider Sulapac to ensure environmentally friendly products throughout its supply chain. The minimalist company uses Sulapac-based jars to promote transparency in the industry.
Alder Packaging is targeting waste elimination in the beauty industry with environmentally sustainable packaging. The new company, formed by industry veterans, offers refillable, recyclable and plastic-free packaging options for color cosmetics, skincare and hair care.
Global beauty launches
Shiseido launched a skincare brand, Sidekick, targeting Gen Z men in Asia with “Gen-Z-specific” skin concerns. The four products and eight items are formulated by combining naturally-derived ingredients with “advanced tech.” The brand is available in Japan and will later be available in China via eCommerce. The company will focus on China as the men’s cosmetics market is “booming”, particularly among Gen-Z males.
Codex Beauty Labs has unveiled microbiome-friendly bath salts. The salts are marketed as “integrative dermatology” – having mental and physical benefits in one. The SeaRock Saltcomplex (Epsom, rock and sea salts) are fragrant with essential oils which can also be used as aromatherapy.
Dermatological skincare brand La Roche-Posay has expanded its double repair moisturizing line, targeting oily skin. Toleriane Double Repair Matte Face Moisturizer is a new lightweight moisturizer for combination, oily and sensitive skin. The moisturizer is formulated to protect with ceramide-3 and niacinamide, including silica and perlite, for mattifying effects. Acne, pimples and breakouts are a top concern for oily skin, with 17.4 million annual prescriptions in the US.
Henkel has recalled Alterna Bond Repair Leave-in Heat Protection Spray due to potential contamination of Burkholderia cepacia complex. It has little effect on healthy people but can cause illness and infections in the immuno-compromised, chronic lung diseased, chronic granulomatous-diseased or wound infected.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics and Youngblood Skin Care brands have joined the Luxury Brands portfolio, including FHI Heat, Stylus, Neo Bond, Hair Veil, and Daily Beauty. Youngblood is known for its natural ingredients and its proprietary milling process. The partnership will expand NPD, digital marketing and advertising strategies and improve B2B and D2C sales support.

NYX Professional Makeup launched the “Paint Your Own Story” Pride Campaign to support the LGBTQIA+ Community. The celebration includes a “first of its kind” virtual “meta-pride parade”. The brand’s digital NFT avatar collection was inspired by its shade range to showcase that makeup has no gender.
