Active Concepts’ pet care range mimics human skin care with natural botanical actives
23 Nov 2023 --- Mirroring their preferences for natural and sustainable skin care, pet owners are increasingly seeking the same for their four-legged friends.
Active Concepts sees the trend as an “accelerated humanization of family pets,” so it developed a range of functional ingredients ideal for safe pet care products.
The company’s botanical-based pet care prototype kit features ingredients commonly featured in human skin care products. The line is designed to elevate the physical care of pets across various species and breeds.
Natural actives for pet care
The new Active Concepts pet care kit, branded The Pampered Pet, includes Gentle Pet Pal Shampoo, No-Rinse Cleanse Spray, Clean & Fresh Instant Wipes, Crystal Clear Ear Rinse and Paw Pads Healing Balm.
Gentle Pet Pal Shampoo features white willow bark and chia extracts while the No-Rinse Cleanse Spray similarly is formulated with ingredients also used in human cosmetics — fruit extracts, lactobacillus ferments, ceramides and pea-based peptides.
Clean & Fresh Instant wipes feature sodium hyaluronate and pumpkin fruit ferment filtrate, as well as hydrolyzed protein from carrots, kale and lemon.
Crystal Clear Ear Rinse is formulated with fruit extracts and sugar cane, while Paw Pads Healing Balm contains coconut fruit extract, Punica granatum sterols from pomegranates and rice lipids.
“With an increasing focus on natural and sustainable options, pet owners are seeking products that not only enhance their pets’ well-being but also align with their own preferences for clean and ethical choices,” states Active Concepts.
“Contrary to the perception of pet care as a niche market, the industry’s magnitude becomes evident when considering that two out of three US households have pets,” notes the company.
“Celebratory gestures such as purchasing luxurious gifts for birthdays and holidays are becoming as common as providing essential pet care necessities.”
According to the 2021–2022 APPA National Pet Owners Survey, 70% of US households own a pet, highlighting the substantial impact of the pet care industry.
