Beauty For All commits to eliminating 100% of virgin plastic waste by 2030
30 Mar 2021 --- Beauty for All Industries (BFA) is committing to eliminating 100 percent of virgin plastic waste by the end of 2030.
In the next three years, it will come up with new ways of reducing the use of virgin plastic by 50 percent in all BFA-owned brands and begin to influence its brand partners’ material choices.
The BFA is home to some of the largest beauty subscriptions in the world, such as IPSY and BoxyCharm, as well as brand incubator Madeby Collective and personal care brand Refreshments.
Via these initiatives, Marcelo Camberos, BFA co-founder and CEO, says the company hopes to enact meaningful change through its brands, partners and communities.
Beauty packaging focus
The move is part of its BFA Impact program launch, a company-wide initiative with two pillars, “self-expression and sustainability,” at its core.
Beyond pledging to eliminate 100 percent virgin plastic waste, the BFA is also aiming to actively help reverse the effects of plastic pollution across its entire portfolio over the next ten years.
From the outset, personal care brand Refreshments launched with packaging composed of at least 30 percent post-consumer recycled plastic.

As a beauty company delivering millions of beauty products every month, the BFA has a responsibility to create new ways of bringing better beauty products to consumers, the company says.
Clean label boost
The company is also looking to arm consumers with the information and education to make better choices. BFA seeks to make beauty more environmentally sustainable, it says.
For this reason, it introduced The BFA Clean Standard and The Out List, an assurance to its members that the products they receive are formulated to reduce health risks related to nearly 2,000 ingredients.
This was developed in partnership with North America’s leading toxicology group, The Agyekum Group Consulting. By the end of 2022, BFA will eliminate any products that do not meet The Out List.
BFA-owned Refreshments is the first brand in the portfolio to completely abide by The BFA Clean Standard.
