Botanical makeup reaches skincare: Precime globally launches Cica Foundation Cushion
28 Feb 2022 --- Japanese-based botanical and organic makeup provider Precime has globally launched its Cica Perfect Radiant Fit Cushion, a foundation reported to contain skin healing properties.
Eunhy Lee, CEO and founder of Precime, speaks with PersonalCareInsights providing insights into the benefits of “skincare with color cosmetics.” She comments that the foundation is a “fit for the beauty and personal care industry, including selfcare.”
The cushion foundation comes in a 13 g or 0.45 oz compact box, providing UV ray protection of up to SPF 50+PA+++. The product is also free of “fragrance, parabens, alcohol, mineral oil, talc, sorbic acid and phenoxyethanol.”
Skin healing properties
“The word ‘cica’ is a shortening of Centella Asiatica, a herb native to some parts of Asia and Africa. It’s best known for calming eczema and psoriasis flare-ups, as well as healing superficial burns and scratches,” according to the company. It also targets redness, soothing and repairing irritated or stressed skin.
“The cica ingredient with panthenol helps relieve skin stress and redness to give your skin an all-around naturally healthy glow,” adds Lee. She shares that the product formula contains a concentrate of cica 20’000PPM [parts per million].
“This plant is known in Asia as what tigers rub on their wounds to help their skin regenerate.” The company adds that the ingredient is also known as Gotu kola, Indian pennywort and tiger grass.
Additionally, Lee shares product ingredients with multiple flower extracts with beneficial compounds such as niacinamide (whitening), adenosine (anti-wrinkle), panthenol/ vitamin B-5 (radiance and moisture); tocopheryl acetate/vitamin E (anti-aging).
Furthermore, Cica Foundation may help treat acne and calm sensitive skin; it only adds to skincare routines, suggests the company.
Future Agenda
“Currently, we’re all set for both the Allure Best of beauty Clean category and the Best of Beauty Base category 2022,” says Lee.
At the moment, the product can only be found on Precime’s website. It is said to be available in stores in the future. Additionally, Lee hints at a forthcoming launch of a Cica sun care line.
Lee designed the skincare foundation targeting inflammation and natural glow as she previously suffered from sensitive skin.
