DKSH expands distribution partnership with EFPBiotek, increasing DACH personal care market reach
19 May 2022 --- An expanded distribution agreement will see DKSH’s Business Unit Performance Materials provide EFPBiotek with business development, sales, marketing, distribution and logistics support to grow EFPBiotek’s personal care products in strategic German, Austrian and Swiss (DACH) markets.
“[The deal] is a further strengthening of the strategic relationship between EFPBiotek and DKSH by adding one of the largest personal care markets to the joint collaboration,” Roland Kraut, vice president global personal care Industry at DKSH tells PersonalCareInsights:
“Due to the nature of the product range it is a significant push towards a more sustainable product range and an essential cornerstone to strengthen the position of both parties in the market.”
EFPBiotek offers cosmetic products of ecologically sustainably sourced vegetable and marine origins in accordance with international sustainable fishing and procurement policies.
“The DACH markets are very mature and green-oriented, making it the right timing for this expansion of the alliance between EFPBiotek and DKSH,” Antonio Cacao, CEO of EFPBiotek affirms.
The expansion leverages DKSH’s distribution network and market competencies, in addition to a large consumer base for personal care and cosmetics producers in Europe.
At present, plant-based cosmetic emollient manufacturer EFPBiotek is entrusting specialty chemicals distributor DKSH to increase growth along markets in the US, Spain, France, Nordic countries, Portugal, Australia, India, China, South Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia.
Upcycling for the earth
Cacao says the companies are witnessing symbiotic successes as a result of the deal and highlights his company’s sustainability ethos as integral to growth.
“Our Upcycling and Waste Zero manufacturing philosophy leads the way for a [environmentally] sustainable cosmetic industry, helping to leave a greener planet for generations to come,” he says.
The company specializes in high-purity squalene of cosmetic and pharmaceutical quality. Vegetable squalenes are emerging as an alternative to silicones, petrolatums, lanolin, paraffin and mineral oils.
“Natural-based products able to replace or supplement traditional synthetic products on the way to offer greener and sustainable formulations to our broad customers base,” says Kraut.
He explains: “Europe tends to be the market with the strongest demand for these in-trend products, [which are] on the way to replace less sustainable products.”
