“Meanwhile, by continuing to innovate with sustainable feedstocks and formulations, Evonik is supporting the ‘green transformation’ within the local industry to meet the country’s reduced carbon emission targets.”
Sustainable solutions
Following the acquisition of Infinitec Activos delivery technologies in 2021, Evonik will now showcase the expanded portfolio of cosmetic solutions and active ingredients for skin, hair and household cleaning.
The Rheasome CeraBoost encapsulation system is a biotechnological and naturally derived delivery method that replenishes the skin lipid pool and boosts ceramide production and diversity. The company shares that delivering sphingolipids and ceramides through the skin barrier in the deeper epidermis restores the skin barrier and improves moisturization for well-aged skin.
Moreover, Evonik’s Varisoft EQ 90 is a conditioning agent designed for a minimal environmental footprint, produced by an optimized process with reduced energy consumption. It is reportedly biodegradable, has hair and skin conditioning properties and lower aquatic toxicity. The conditioner is free of tropical oil and solvents and can be employed in personal hygiene formulations, including “trendy concentrated and solid formats.”
Evonik is also unveiling a documentary in cooperation with PCHi on enzymatic esterification at the tradeshow. Its sustainable portfolio of esters endorsed by a green chemistry process in a local production facility at Evonik’s Care Solution Organics Plant in Shanghai, China, will also be debuted at the show.
The company shares that the eco-efficient biocatalytic synthesis fully relies on renewable energy and leads to a nearly 100% reduction of CO2 footprint compared with conventional chemical procedures.
Evonik will be at stand 1A27, Hall 1.1 at PCHi. The company has been showing greater environmental support with its recent collaboration with Beiersdorf and World Wildlife Fund For Nature for deforestation-free palm kernel oil.
Moreover, it also expanded its reach in China through its recent collaboration with Intercos for a direct supply agreement at the fifth China International Import Expo. As part of the agreement, Evonik will supply raw materials such as active ingredients, emulsifiers and cosmetic oils through a direct sales channel to Intercos China.
