Greentech and Morand harness agroforestry: Ayurvedic plants for skin and mood of fatigue
13 Jun 2022 --- To counter the modern lifestyle stressors that disrupt the body’s natural rhythm, Greentech partnered with GRH Monrad to cultivate exotic plants like Green Chiretta (Andrographis paniculata). The plant, grown by agroforestry, is used for making the ingredient Circalys to enhance the mood and skin from fatigue.
“Agroforestry involves using a combination of trees with an annual or perennial crop on the land,” says Elisa Mondard, production and sales manager at GRH Morand.
“The main advantage of tests in a greenhouse is that the climate conditions are known and controlled,” adds Victoria Vaganay, responsible for sustainable sourcing at Greentech.
The greenhouse uses photovoltaic power from panels on the rooftop.
“They also allow light to pass through, the plants can therefore photosynthesize but also be shielded from solar rays which are aggressive in this region in the south of France,” continues Vaganay.
Greentech has been in partnership with Cruas Greenhouse for a year and has set up a fair partnership according to Fair-for-Life standards.
“Feel Good Energizer”
Circalys by Greentech is touted as a chrono-detox and feel-good energizing active ingredient. The Ayurvedic plant is also rich in andrographolides.
It works by balancing skin rhythms by acting on specific clock genes and circadian modulators such as melatonin signaling pathway, dell detoxification, antioxidant response, cell longevity and stress protection, shares Greentech.
Green Chiretta was used to design Circalys to modulate the skin’s circadian clock and activate the brain-skin axis pathways, enhancing oxytocin, endorphins and endocannabinoids for relaxation.
It was also clinically tested on night/shift workers for 28 days. The findings suggest that Circalys “significantly reduces” visible signs of facial fatigue and also reduces fatigue on a mood level. Improvements were seen in eye bags, dark circles, under-eye wrinkles and dull tones.
The company highlights that up to 45% of the population suffers from fatigue.
“The greenhouse cultivation makes it possible to control the quantity of active molecules present in the plants and to relocate the sourcing in France for high quality and sustainably sourced active ingredients,” adds Vaganay.
