MyKirei by Kao debuts laundry detergent spray to capitalize on home care performance
17 Oct 2022 --- Japan-based MyKirei by Kao brand is introducing its Easy-Spray Laundry Detergent for an environmentally sustainably sourced cleaning solution for clothes and household linens. The “no mess, no measure” spray comes in a compact, refillable, marketed alternative to heavy and space-consuming bottles.
The Easy-Spray Laundry Detergent contains “breakthrough Bio-IOS,” a plant-based surfactant from palm remnants that are phosphate-free. The Bio-IOS is noted to protect clothes with a super-concentrated formula that can deliver heavy-duty cleaning and eliminate odors while still being safe for sensitive skin.
The formula is dermatologically tested to be safe, containing 65% of plant-derived cleansers with a 98% biodegradable formula.
Some ingredients include phenoxyethanol, butoxydiglycol, sulfuric acid, alpha-amylase, linalool, hexyl cinnamal, citronellol, limonene and geraniol.
Packaging and scent
Moreover, the Easy-Spray Laundry Detergent requires a single cold-water rinse for powerful cleansing. This is also lauded for saving energy.
The brand highlights the refillability of its “bottle for life” system, which can reduce plastic by 90% of the primary package. It can be used by directing the nozzle into the washing machine and pressing the lever to dispense the liquid into the machine.
The bottle is also light and bulk-free – “half the weight of leading liquid detergents” – and can be used with one hand. Its smell is described and marketed as a “clean, fresh and breezy fragrance that naturally makes life more beautiful.”
Fragrance products at 0.01% or higher include: (12E)-1-oxacyclohexadec-12-en-2-one, citronellol, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) peel oil, geraniol, geranyl acetate, hexyl cinnamal, limonene, linalool, methyldihydrojasmonate, methylenedioxyphenyl methylpropanal, pentadecalactone, tetrahydrolinalool and tetramethyl acetyloctahydronaphthalenes.
Brand moves into personal care
MyKirei by Kao is capitalizing on its successful performance in the personal care space, similar to its previously launched Yuzu Flower Foam Hand Wash. With its Easy-Spray Laundry Detergent, the brand is “pushing into the home category.”
It also maintains its approach to Kirei, the Japanese attitude to a clean and orderly home, as a sign of care and respect.
“There is comfort and security where there is order and cleanliness, which inspired the compact package that won’t contribute to the chaos of clutter for the ultimate clean, without compromise,” says the brand.
“Keeping clothes and fabrics at their best helps them last longer to reduce waste. Our concentrated formula in a lightweight, liftable, bulk-free spray bottle helps people of all ages and abilities achieve these goals. MyKirei by Kao formulas are free of phthalates, parabens and phosphates.”
In related news, Unilever recently bolstered its Sunlight liquid soap brand’s cleaning power with a tech-led, bio-enzyme-fuelled formula.
