Regenacol launches ingestible skincare NPD tapping into beauty-from-within demands
24 Aug 2021 --- Regenacol has added a drinkable, powdered beverage to its skincare line called Skin Inside. Skin Inside is a skincare product curated with a blend of “carefully sourced ingredients” to support healthy skin and whole-body wellness from within.
Skin Inside contains essential vitamins and minerals, peptides, botanicals and nutrients that play a critical role in biochemical pathways as age progresses and helps foster and maintain healthy-looking skin.
“When you look at the complete Regenacol skincare line, you will notice it has all of these key elements working together for a beauty from within concept,” Shelley Treadaway, spokesperson for Regenacol, tells PersonalCareInsights.
Moreover, Regenacols’ bee venom helps stimulate new collagen growth.
“The telomere serum is preventative care and assists with aging at the cellular level,” continues Treadaway. “The facemasks help moisturize and nourish the skin with a range of ingredients that include bovine colostrum. Skin Inside completes the package and gives consumers a solid foundation for inner and outer beauty.”
The powdered drink mix is formulated to mix with four to six ounces of water or blend into a low-protein smoothie, and it is recommended to be consumed once a day.
Previously, the Regenacol skincare line touted anti-aging properties.
Ingestible beauty demand
Innova Market Insights data reveals a 52 percent average annual growth of supplement launches with a skin health claim between 2018 and 2020.
In this space, research from Lycored suggests demand for ingestible skincare, with nine out of ten consumers accepting the idea of a supplement that helps promote healthy skincare.
“Too many people still do not realize that the food they eat affects not only their internal health but their exterior health as well. Many people are stressed from their daily routines, don’t have time to eat correctly, and don’t realize these choices eventually will catch up to them,” adds Treadaway.
“The ingestible beauty industry can be transformative, but the user also has to want to make some lifestyle adjustments as well. The ingestible beauty industry will continue to grow as consumers realize they also have a part to play in the solution.”
Colostrum and the gut-skin axis
There are an array of ingredients and functions found in the Skin Inside products. Liposomal bovine colostrum (Colostrum-LD) helps to ensure the good functioning of the stomach and intestinal lining, thereby promoting immune health throughout the lifespan.
Colostrum-LD offers protection against telomere shortening, which contributes to its overall anti-aging benefit, including the skin.
Previously, PanTheryx highlighted colostrum functional foods for gut health and immunity.
“The gut-skin access is an exciting, complex space being heavily studied across the scientific community. Research has shown through supporting a healthy and diverse gut microbiome, we can support skin homeostasis, and we are happy to deliver an ingestible skin care product that focuses on healing skin through the gut,” explains Treadaway.
Benefits of Skin Inside multiplied
The aim was to ensure that the Skin Inside formula was balanced, with bovine colostrum, PureWayC – a vitamin C with superior absorption to typical vitamin C components, collagen peptides and lycopene, comments Treadaway.
“The formula focuses on a holistic approach that addresses a wide variety of elements in the human body including gastrointestinal health, immune health, the aging process and skin health,” she continues.
Bovine collagen peptides designed for skin health improve the structure of the skin’s surface and increase elasticity. Verisol is a collagen peptide that is clinically shown to reduce wrinkles and increase skin elasticity as early as four weeks and stimulate collagen levels in the body.
“Skin Inside has one botanical ingredient, lycopene, which is a carotenoid antioxidant with the ability to increase procollagen (collagen precursor) levels which help attenuate the effects on aging skin, including UV skin damage,” she adds.
“The human body does not manufacture lycopene, and so it must be obtained from lycopene-rich tomatoes or naturally-derived supplements, such as LycoBeads.”
Skin Inside also has the ingredients HyaBest, a form of hyaluronic acid with water-retaining capacity. Hyaluronic acid is a vital glycosaminoglycan for skin health that plays a crucial role in skin hydration and helps maintain extracellular spaces between skin cells, and helps shuttle nutrients to the skin.
Additionally, Skin Inside contains antioxidants including vitamin C, zinc L- carnosine and rose hips.
