Stora Enso has introduced Performa Lumi, a lightweight folding boxboard (FBB) for personal care packaging. The solution is made from Stora Enso’s FiberLight technology, which enables durability and lightweight structures.
Kati Ekman, head of product line FBB at Stora Enso, says: “Performa Lumi is designed for brands that want a premium appearance without unnecessary complexity. For brand owners, that means one board solution that can cover multiple end-uses, from beauty to personal care and beyond with reliable results.”
Performa Lumi is also chemi-thermomechanical pulp-coated on both sides, offering a smooth, white design with effective printing properties.
Stora Enso explains that the FBB is suitable for applications that require shelf appeal and durability. The solution was produced on Stora Enso’s new packaging line in Oulu, Finland. It expands the paper-based packaging manufacturer’s Performa range, alongside Performa Nova.

Strength and protection
According to the company, it offers an option for everyday beauty, personal care, and health care packaging. The Performa Lumi box was designed to withstand stresses in printing and conversion, making it suitable for heavy products, such as creams or fragrance bottles.
Personal care solutions often require protective packaging that helps prevent damage while maintaining a brand’s aesthetic identity and desired unboxing experience.
Premium luxury packaging is increasingly balancing visual appeal, tactile quality, and functionality while meeting logistical and sustainability requirements.
Recently, Act Beauty, a France-based beauty and luxury packaging company, developed an on-the-go, refillable, perfume spray bottle range, made from glass and metal, offering a durable, functional, premium spray solution.
Similarly, Saica Group supplied Unilever with a paper grouping band for its Axe deodorant duopacks, using high-performance paper designed for mechanical strength and durability during transport.
