Vegan Trademark partners with RangeMe to scale animal-free products globally
24 Jan 2022 --- The Vegan Society’s Vegan Trademark has partnered with US company RangeMe to make vegan brands more visible and accessible to retailers globally.
The Vegan trademark, spearheaded by vegans is the original verification scheme trusted by brands and consumers to ensure that labeled products are free from animal ingredients and animal testing.
“One of the goals of the society is to help make veganism mainstream,” says Steve Hamon, head of commercial services at The Vegan Trademark.
“The collaboration between RangeMe and the Vegan Trademark will help brands that go through our certification scheme grow and reach new audiences,” he says.

The trademark is collaborating with RangeMe to make it easier for current trademark holders to enter new market territories such as the US and more diverse suppliers to get their products in more stores.
RangeMe, is a digital platform that enables retail buyers to quickly discover new products. The platform provides tools, insights and services to businesses and suppliers aimed at growing their brands.
“Companies like RangeMe are important to challenger brands as they provide access to opportunities they may not be able to get on their own,” explains Hamon.
The Vegan Trademark has helped consumers identify that a product is free from animal ingredients since 1990. Registration with the trademark legitimizes brands’ vegan credentials. All current trademark holders are invited to sign up to RangeMe.
Streamlining vegan labeling
The European Vegetarian Union (EVU) called on the European Commission to harmonize vegetarian and vegan food labeling rules in 2021. The renewed urgency came after a decade since the Food Information to Consumers Regulation was enacted (on October 25, 2011), which urged the commission to implement food criteria for vegans and vegetarians in voluntary labeling.
Industry players are exploring vegan alternatives with in-house R&D and business collaborations to capture more consumers. Plant-based development was prevalent and Anuga 2021, Cologne, Germany with companies from traditional categories, such as traditional Greek pies and Spanish cured ham, investing in animal-free innovation.
