Vichy Laboratoires launches serum formulated explicitly for menopausal skincare
19 Oct 2022 --- On World Menopause Day, Vichy Laboratoires unveiled dermatologist-certified Neovadiol Meno 5 Serum – the first available product in a line developed for peri- and post-menopausal skin.
The product has been formulated while factoring in hormonal variations that occur leading up to and during menopause. “[This] may lead to reduced collagen and lipid production in the skin and can cause increased dryness and wrinkles,” the company says.
At the end of a two-month clinical study of post-menopausal women, 98% of participants agreed their skin appearance looked smoother, 96% felt their skin was nourished and 92% noticed a more even skin tone.
“As a doctor-founded and recommended skincare brand, Vichy’s formulation charter is both rooted in and backed by science to ensure clinically-proven results,” says Minh-Dan Tran, SVP and head of brand at Vichy Laboratoires, US.
Key skin ingredients
Key active ingredients of the new serum include proXylane, a sugar protein hybrid derived from xylose, developed by L’Oreal, for firmer skin and less visible wrinkles. Cassia extracts for plumping and providing firmness to the skin and vitamins B3, C, and E to help prevent oxidative damage are included in the serum.
It also features omegas 6-9 to replenish moisture on dry skin by creating a protective lipid barrier. Vichy Volcanic Water builds a stronger skin moisture barrier and protects against exposome aggressors.
Menopausal wellness
In synchronicity with World Menopause Day on October 18, Essity launched a product and brand dubbed Issviva. This global e-commerce platform provides knowledge, solutions and products for women during the various stages of menopause.
“Essity is committed to breaking barriers to well-being, including stigmas and taboos around menopause,” said Cristina Arbelaez, global director of New Menopause at Essity.
Additionally, Amyris and actress-entrepreneur-activist Naomi Watts launched the Stripes brand for (peri)menopausal wellness. The company also unveiled Meno Institute to fill the void in research around women experiencing (peri)menopause.
“Women spend half their life in menopause, yet the beauty, wellness and even medical industries have largely ignored it, resulting in millions of women suffering in silence. We spend so much time, energy and money on ‘anti-aging,’ and it is not serving us,” said Deb Millard, president of healthy aging at Amyris.
Additionally, PharmaLinea introduced Your Meno Ease Capsules to improve the quality of women’s social, work and personal lives when facing some of the more distressing symptoms of menopause.
“Our new formulation is a combination of a recognized natural ingredient with proven benefits in menopausal health and an active molecule originating from an innovative yeast fermentation process,” shared Maja Orešnik, science and research director at PharmaLinea.
