Aforé by Dr. Few unveils CR Emulsion, “world’s first” clinically-tested CBD & retinol face cream
07 Dec 2021 --- US-based Aforé by Dr. Few has announced the release of its CR Emulsion. The cream is marketed as the world’s first clinically-tested face cream containing cannabidiol (CBD) and retinol. The clinically-tested cream fights signs of aging and reduces the appearance of skin blemishes.
It is the second CBD-infused product in their range and follows the launch of their CBD effusive face mist in February 2021. The cream also contains peptides and hyaluronic acid.
Filling a research gap
The brand launched the product after a “groundbreaking” clinical trial. During the trial, 100% of the test group reported improved fine lines and blemishes after regularly applying the CBD-infused retinol cream for 42 days.
According to Dr. Julius Few, the company’s founder and director, the clinical trial was inspired by a gap in medical research on the cosmeceutical potential of CBD.
“I realized that very little work was done to research the medicinal properties of cannabidiol on the skin. That was enough for me to take another look and subject the compound to clinical research and ultimate development,” says Dr. Julius Few.
Aforé by Dr. Few’s study contributes to the limited body of research surrounding the dermatological efficacy of CBD.
Recently in the US, the Federal Trade Commission began a crack-down on companies making claims about CBD products which aren’t scientifically substantiated. In the future, companies selling CBD products will be increasingly compelled by the government to back up their claims with studies like that of Dr. Few.
Strategic formulation
The product is formulated with complementary ingredients. Traditional retinol products can be harsh on the skin when used in creams and serums. However, according to Dr. Few, pairing it with the soothing anti-inflammatory properties of CBD counteracts potential irritation or dry skin.
The CBD in Dr. Few’s products is also water-soluble. Traditionally, CBD is infused into heavy oils, such as coconut oil or medium-chain triglyceride (MCT) oil. The molecules of these oils have the potential to clog the pores on a person’s face, leading to oily skin and blemishes. Infusing the CBD into a water-based solution avoids this.
