Ariana Grande debuts MOD: A modern twist to vanilla, floral and fruity fragrances
02 Dec 2022 --- Grammy award winner and US pop singer Ariana Grande is introducing her first fragrance duo with MOD Vanilla and MOD Blush. The fragrances are inspired by the energy of the modernity movement, popularized in 1960s London, UK, representing the values of freedom of expression and individuality.
“When we started working on this duo over a year ago, I fell absolutely in love with both of these fragrances and with the creativity that Stefan and I collaborated on. I wanted to do something different and exciting for my fans by launching two new fragrances at once,” says the 7 Rings singer.
Noreen Dodge, chief marketing officer of Luxe Brands, notes the new fragrances as the evolution of Ariana Grande’s fragrance portfolio.
“The way we crafted the scents represents what I feel is the future of perfumes; simplicity and luxury anchored to nature, the design, campaign and fragrances are a delightfully modern twist for fans to enjoy.”
“Unforgettable signature”
The MOD Vanilla perfume is described as expressive and deeply personal.
An unexpected blend of juicy dark plum and creamy musks with a touch of pink freesia is encountered upon smelling the perfume. “Its appeal is instant and addicting,” says Luxe Brands.
A hint of gourmand is heightened to a sophisticated level with orris butter and white praline. In the background, a complex layer of vanilla, upcycled cocoa butter and papyrus radiate.
“We have gone through many, many tester bottles. Mod Vanilla and Mod Blush have quickly become two of my favorites in our fragrance family,” comments Grande.
Floral blush
MOD Blush takes on a modern combination of floral and fruity scents.
The complex mixture of Italian bergamot, passion fruit and dark raspberry sharply contrasts with pink pepper, giving an “alluring” introduction.
The heart notes consist of a bouquet of rose petals and magnolia, enhanced by a touch of pear.
Upon drying down, MOD Blush leaves a trail of ambrox, dream wood and musk, leaving a “vibrant, sensual and lasting impression.”
Post-mid-century fashion-inspired
The packaging for MOD bottles is described as a modern toast to post-mid-century fashion.
“Something bold and interruptive done in a sculptural way with form and light,” says Luxe Brands.
The subtle curves give off a rounded shape without looking symmetrical. One bottle is white, and the other pink. Both bottles are encapsulated in a window-like packaging around the glass.
The Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 FL 100 ml, costs US$68, and the Eau de Parfum Spray, 1.0 FL 30 ml, is priced at US$48. The brand is set to roll out in Canada at Shoppers Drug Mart, in Europe at Douglas, in the UK at Boots, Superdrug, The Perfume Shop and The Fragrance Shop and in Australia at My Chemist.
They are currently available on Ulta’s website and will be in Ulta stores after December 11.
Celebrity fragrances
Celebrities are continuously popping up in the cosmetics space with signature launches.
This summer, Grande unveiled God is a Woman Body Line, in partnership with Ulta Beauty.
Last month, US pop star Billie Eilish unveiled a fresh iteration of the original ‘Eilish’ fragrance, with notes of warmth and sweetness. The singer’s latest perfume develops the original fragrance to convey a feeling of “her sensual side and being drenched in these notes, worn to envelop the skin.”
To capture the essence of love in her new marriage, celebrity socialite Paris Hilton unveiled Love Rush on the cusp of her first wedding anniversary to the author and venture capitalist Carter Reum.
Elon Musk, founder and CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and The Boring Company, launched a perfume called Burnt Hair, The Essence of Repugnant Desire, via his tunneling company. Via social media, the billionaire confirmed the pre-orders of 10,000 bottles of Burnt Hair within a few hours after the launch, approximating US$1 million in retail value.
