Arjowiggins flaunts colored paper compatibilities through dual box matching tool
10 May 2021 --- Arjowiggins has created a dual box set as a tool to showcase the color development and matching possibilities of its Keaykolour and Curious Metallics colored paper ranges.
“This [tool] allows us to demonstrate our command of color creation, development and matching. A clever die-cut design reveals the beautiful mass-dyed edges of each sheet and enables customers to change the top sheet to view different color combinations,” the company says.
As part of its close collaboration with color specialist Atelier 3D Couleur in 2018, Arjowiggins completely overhauled its collection, making way for a “comprehensive, contemporary and coherent color offering.”
The color palettes of each paper range have all been meticulously curated to offer maximum matching and harmony within and between ranges, widening opportunities to combine different papers across print and packaging applications.
Color combinations
The two ranges are constructed in color families facilitating color combination, such as brights, deeps, pastels or hues of blues, reds and greens.
Each color can work on its own but can also easily be associated with other colors in its color family, in pairs or groupings, or ultimately all colors in the range mixed together, making for endless combinations.
The new tool, designed by Arjowiggins long-term partner North, is in the form of a dual box set and highlights matching pairs of colors from the two ranges, as well as the complementarity of the two-color palettes.

Keaykolour & Curious Metallics
Keaykolour is a collection of natural, woven textured, high-rigidity papers and boards in 48 sophisticated mid-tone colors arranged in nine chromatically harmonized color families.
The line also includes a choice of 100 percent recycled products as well as a range of 13 embossing patterns.
The Curious Metallics collection brings a “shimmering luster” to eight coherent families of muted and natural tints. This is along with a small number of more resonant, contemporary colors, across a wide array of papers and boards.
The 48 colors of Keaykolour coupled with the 30 colors of Curious Metallics create a harmonious palette of nearly 80 colors revealing the power of creative combinations between the refined, natural texture of Keaykolour and the ever-so-subtle shimmer of Curious Metallics.
New approach to color selection
The box set comprises a Keaykolour box and a Curious Metallics box, each holding a set of specially-designed loose sample cards showcasing each color range in its entirety.
The box set widens opportunities to combine different papers across print and packaging applications, Arjowiggins says.Each box in the set can also be used individually. To showcase the richness of the ranges, a choice of ten box colors are available for each range.
“Customers will therefore have a pleasant surprise upon receiving this fun new tool; discovering or rediscovering some of the iconic colors of Keaykolour and Curious Metallics,” the company supports.
A selection of ten matching pairs of sample cards across the two ranges is printed with identical graphic designs using a variety of print techniques, including embossing, foiling and offset.
They showcase matching color pairs across the Keaykolour and Curious Metallics ranges, such as Metallics’ Electric Blue with Keaykolour’s Royal Blue, Metallics’ Magma with Keaykolour’s Chili Pepper and Metallics’ Ice Silver with Keaykolour’s Pure White.
A practical A6 size, coupled with the loose-card and die-cut format of the box sets, allows customers to explore and discover other unique color harmonies and pairs, underlining the strength of the two palettes.
These new color matching tools are available through Arjowiggins’ network of merchants either as a set of two boxes or as individual boxes.
Previously, the Scotland-based packaging company released a see-through barrier paper called Sylvicta, which it said could revolutionize the packaging industry. The material is translucent, recyclable, compostable, marine-degradable, and proven to preserve foods and cosmetics.
