Baby Dior goes green with “creamy candy” scent of childhood with Bonne Étoile
24 Nov 2023 --- Baby Dior unveils its latest olfactory innovation, Bonne Étoile, a captivating eau de senteur designed exclusively for children. Rooted in the early memories of Christian Dior and envisioned by artistic director Cordélia de Castellane, this fragrance by Francis Kurkdjian is a nostalgic-modern celebration of childhood.
The journey to creating Bonne Étoile begins by looking at the past. Baby Dior draws inspiration from its inception in 1967 and Christian Dior’s early years in Granville, France.
Cordélia de Castellane, creating Baby Dior collections since 2012, envisioned a new olfactory experience for the brand, leading to a collaboration with Francis Kurkdjian, the director of Perfume Creation for Parfums Christian Dior.
Crafting a dream
Kurkdjian envisioned Bonne Étoile as more than just a scent and aimed to encapsulate the journey into a comforting childhood.
“The formula felt obvious to me, like an instinct and a smile,” says Francis Kurkdjian.
Baby Dior’s olfactory creation aims to intertwine Christian Dior’s vision of crafting a tender and magical scent for children.“I wanted to avoid the inevitable orange blossom that has always symbolized the smell of childhood in France and instead look for a comforting scent in another formula: a pear, rosy and green, enlivened by eglantine that is wrapped in soft, cottony protective musk notes,” he details.

By choosing to combine the pear’s fresh essence with the delicate sweet-brier, Kurkdjian steers away from conventional choices.
Gentle formulation, natural origins
With a formulation free from alcohol and comprising 98% natural origin ingredients, the fragrance is crafted to be gentle to a baby’s delicate senses.
The fragrance is complemented by a complete collection, including La Mousse très fondante, Le Lait très tendre and L’Eau très fraîche — products that pamper delicate skin with the natural ingredients.
This baby skin care range was recently launched, comprising scented water, cleansing gel, moisturizing and diaper cream.
Meanwhile, de Castellane adds elegance to the collection by dressing the bottles in a bespoke toile de Jouy. This design, specially crafted for Bonne Étoile, creates an artistic synergy between fragrance and packaging.
In other fragrance innovations by Kurkdjian, Dior unveiled a new perfume within its classic J’adore Dior perfume line, branded J’adore L’Or.
His house recently unveiled a host of personal care products inspired by its popular fragrances alongside Scented Soaps, a new category featuring three round soaps: Aqua Vitae Cologne forte, Aqua Celestia Cologne forte and Aqua Media Cologne forte.
