K-wellness brand Clöud Café is deepening its Target partnership with a limited-edition holiday collection launching online and in-store endcaps.
The expansion reflects a broader shift across the personal care industry, where ingestible beauty and wellness are becoming mainstay categories as consumers increasingly demand beauty-from-within solutions.
Clöud Café first entered Target with the goal to leverage what it described as an under-explored category in US markets: functional beauty beverages that do not compromise taste.
The South Korean ingestible beauty brand is now expanding into holiday beverages, bringing functional, skin care-forward ingredients to the hot drinks aisle.
Personal Care Insights speaks with Olive Kim, founder of Clöud Café, who discusses the benefits of ingestible beauty and the potential of seasonal collections for brand discovery as the category continues to gain traction.
Combining flavor with functionality
For the brand, it is clear that consumers are increasingly combining ingestible beauty beverages with topical skin care routines. “Whether it’s a ‘get ready with me’ video or someone sharing their daily beauty routine, there’s almost always some form of ingestion woven in, whether that’s a drink, a supplement, or a ritual,” notes Kim.
The limited-edition flavors bring a festive twist to Clöud Café’s Marine Collagen-infused lineup.“Ingestible wellness has become a natural part of the conversation. Beauty has always been treated like it’s only what you put on your skin, but we’ve always said that this is only half of the picture.”
Kim tells us that the most effective way to receive collagen is by consumption, as the size of the molecules hinders absorption through topical skin care solutions. “We chose marine collagen specifically because it’s absorbed up to 1.5 times more effectively and has a higher bioavailability than bovine or porcine collagen.”
As an early player in the K-Wellness category, Kim tells us that Clöud Café was encouraged to see beauty consumables become more globally mainstream outside of East Asian culture.
“Our goal is to continue to reach even more people — whether that’s through expanding flavors to suit more tastes, or to create content that helps educate our audience and show how easy it is to integrate Clöud Café into any daily routine.”
“We always prioritize a fun or culturally relevant tone through our marketing and content, but we never let that come at the expense of transparency,” continues Kim.
“On our packaging and in any product description copy, we clearly break down what each ingredient does in simple, straightforward terms, so shoppers can easily recognize and understand that we’re offering a tasty, festive flavor in a format that’s good for them,” she adds.
According to Kim, Clöud Café prioritizes the balance between ingestibles that deliver a desirable flavor profile and are healthy for the consumer. She tells us that the blends that combine functional benefits with taste “naturally become part of daily rituals.”
Kim says that the production process for a Clöud Café flavor involves dozens of rounds of testing, while being mindful of sugar, calories, and how the functional ingredients interact with each other.
The gift of giving collagen
Clöud Café is leveraging its seasonal flavor launch, which features two Target-exclusive flavors: Frosted Chestnut Latte and Peppermint Mocha, as an introduction point to consumers.
“Once someone starts to see and feel the difference after drinking Clöud Café regularly, we believe that it stops being just a holiday indulgence and instead becomes a regular part of their routine.”
Since launching at Target, Clöud Café says it has been encouraged by the response to its flavors and packaging. According to Kim, this has “reinforced how much consumers enjoy discovering functional wellness in a format that feels fun, approachable, and easy to incorporate into daily routines.”
The company also aims to produce a novel holiday gift offering, positioning it as a “gift that’s also an experience.”
“Every holiday season, we tend to see the same types of gifts over and over again. We wanted to create something that feels fresh and exciting, but is still connected to the comfort and joy of the season,” says Kim.
“With this limited-edition launch, we’re taking familiar favorites, the holiday flavors people already love, and giving them our own Clöud Café twist through beautiful packaging and functional ingredients that make wellness feel exciting and giftable.”
