Dermala expands acne product range as microbiome solutions demand rises
13 Oct 2021 --- As NPD targeting the gut-skin axis surges in the beauty space, Dermala is extending its product line-up. The new products are formulated to target consumers’ specific needs, such as acne and skin blemishes.
The line extension now includes Best Cleanse Forever Hydrating Cleanser for Sensitive or Normal Skin, Supplemeant to Be Daily Pre + Probiotic Skin Mix, Supplemeant to Be Daily Vitamin Skin Mix and Patch Me (If You Can) targeted pimple patches that come in sizes small, medium and extra-large.
“We are dedicated to producing science-based acne-fighting treatments and products that work from the inside out and outside in,” says Lada Rasochova, founder and CEO of Dermala.
The team is actively developing new products that combine human microbiome science with skincare and data analytics. “We are very confident in the results our customers will see with our new product launches,” says Rasochova.
The Dermala products are formulated with patented microbiome-derived prebiotics, probiotics and postbiotics that naturally improve skin health by balancing the skin and gut microbiome.
In light of the rising demand for microbiome solutions, Innova Market Insights’ data reveals the demand for microbiome personal care products is on the rise. In the past five years, personal care products that feature a prebiotic or probiotic claim have witnessed an average annual growth of 73% (Global, CAGR 2016-2020).
Revamped products
The Best Cleanse Forever is an expansion on the original Cleanse with Benefits AM/PM Cleanser that is suitable for normal or combination skin. It balances the skin’s microbiome and fights acne-causing bacteria without overdrying the skin.
The Best Cleanse Forever is formulated with Dermala’s patented SE microbiome and SE sugar complexes, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide, ceramides, aloe vera and botanical extracts. These ingredients hydrate, soothe and protect blemish-prone, sensitive skin.
Consumer demand for solutions that support skin health from the inside out led to new formulations in place of the Supplemeant to Be Daily Pre + Probiotic + Vitamin Skin Mix.
The new Supplemant to Be Daily Pre + Probiotic Skin Mix is now formulated with blemish-fighting probiotics and prebiotics with a boost from a spinach leaf-based blend of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals.
The Skin Mix blends zinc, chromium, vitamins, hyaluronic acid, green tea and spinach leaf extracts that support a balanced microbiome and glowing skin.
These product extensions are completed by the launch of a 40% thinner Patch Me (If You Can) targeted pimple patch that is now also available in three sizes and a variety of formats.
Similar to the original Patch Me (If You Can), the hydrocolloid pimple patches reduce the size and severity of acne lesions, speed up healing, protect the skin from the spread of acne-causing bacteria and prevent dark spots as well as scars.
Tracking Dermala’s microbiome NPD
In August, Dermala unveiled OAT So Sweet, a daily moisturizer with prebiotics and postbiotics that targets blemish-prone skin. Additionally, Dermala received a US patent last month for solutions that utilize the skin and the gut microbiome to slow down the skin aging process.
Industry players are also showing interest in the ingestible beauty scene with new product developments featuring a microbiome focus. In this space, Florajen Probiotics launched Florajen Eczema, an ingestible probiotic that improves atopic dermatitis.
Last week, NutritionInsight reported on the gut-skin link and how consumers are becoming more informed about the connection. In this space, Regenacol launched Skin Inside, an ingestible skin care product that taps into beauty-from-within demands.
Meanwhile, research from Lycored highlights strong demand for ingestible skincare, with nine out of ten consumers accepting the idea of a supplement that helps promote healthy skincare.
