EthicaCBD unveils fast-acting CBD and CBG sports gel with cooling sensation

14 Feb 2022 --- UK CBD supplier EthicaCBD has rolled out CBD Sports Gel, positioned as a fast-acting topical solution for athletic recovery. The formula harnesses a blend of plant extracts, including cannabigerol (CBG) to provide natural relief to injured joints and tired muscles. 

EthicaCBD calls CBG “the grandfather of all cannabinoids” for its potency. “CBG is fast becoming the go-to cannabinoid to relieve muscle soreness which users say can alleviate joint pain,” reports the company.

CBD and CBG work in synergy, says the company, to yield greater benefits together than when used in isolation.

“Our formulation offers deep, natural relief to sportspeople and athletes looking to be their natural best,” says Ruarri Spurgeon, founder of EthicaCBD. 

Keeping it cool
The gel also exhibits a cooling sensation, which is a result of using ergogenic menthol and camphor.

Cannabinoids’ host of potential 
CBG is gaining recognition for its potential to offer pain relief and manufacturing ease. In 2020, Amyris scaled up the commercial production of CBG, which is produced via industrial fermentation. 

At the time, CBG was presented as an alternative to CBD. 

CBD has earned its place in the spotlight as a viable solution to pain relief, including within sports nutrition. In 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) exempted CBD isolate from its list of prohibited substances in the Olympics. Now groups are calling on more types of cannabinoids to be permitted. 

CBD along with CBG are also seeing expanded use across health applications. The compounds are currently being investigated for their potential to fight COVID-19. CBD retailer Extract Labs recently unveiled its Immune Support CBGa (cannabigerolic acid) and CBDa (cannabidiolic acid) tincture.

The 2,000 mg tincture blend consists of CBGa, CBDa, CBG and CBD compounds in a 1:1:1:1 500 mg ratio.

In other CBD innovation, US-based Peels offers a 100% THC-free CBD derived from combining terpenes from orange peels with olivetol under heat and pressure in the presence of a catalyst. 

Moreover, Symrise leveraged its own “nature-identical” CBD using upcycled ingredients from the orange juice industry. Its Canapure CBD alternative is based on D-limonene, which belongs to a group of terpenes.
