Eucerin debuts antioxidant-enriched sun protection skincare line in US markets
18 May 2022 --- Eucerin is expanding into US sun care markets with its dermatologically developed Eucerin Sun care line featuring five antioxidants to combat aging. The brand aims to support skin health for all skin types and tones.
“Eucerin Sun is the only dermatological sun care line with a unique complex of five antioxidants to go beyond sun protection and help promote healthy-looking skin,” says the brand.
The Eucerin Sun line consists of seven products for face and body use “formulated with 5 AOX Shield, that goes beyond neutralizing to guard against free radicals and help support skin health.”
The five essential antioxidants are licochalcone A, glycyrrhetinic acid, vitamin E, vitamin C and oxynex ST.
“Beyond basic sun protection”
Among the varieties rolled out as part of the new line, Eucerin Sun Age Defense is designed for facial use and enriched with hyaluronic acid. It has also been clinically proven to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles after one week of continuous use.
Another facial sunscreen variety is Eucerin Sun Oil Control, suitable for oily and acne-prone skin. The minerals in the Sun Oil absorb oil which provides “an immediate and long-lasting matte finish.”
Targeting face and body sun care, Eucerin Sun Advanced Hydration is formulated with hyaluronic acid and humectants draw in moisture. The product is available in lotion and spray forms with a broad-spectrum SPF 30 and SPF 50.
Lastly, Eucerin Sun Sensitive Mineral is formulated with “naturally sourced zinc oxide”. There are options for adult and baby-sensitive skin and is not developed with 5 AOX Shield.
“Antioxidants are a great component to incorporate into your skincare routine,” says Dr. Susan Taylor, MD.
“They complement and supercharge your sunscreen to deliver maximum protection, offering your skin a second line of defense against UV rays, and they help prevent hyperpigmentation and further sun damage.”
The launch is timely as the summer season prompts new innovation surrounding traditional sunblock. In this space, Symrise is among a host of companies releasing targeted solutions, with its recently launched mineral-based broad-spectrum UV protection filters. Additionally, chief scientist of the Personal Care Products Council issued a statement on the Environmental Working Group’s 2022 advisory on sunscreens.
Personalized skin approach
Eucerin tested this product line on people of all skin types and tones.
“We’re proud to share that our new dermo-cosmetic range offers sun protection products that take individual skin needs into account – because everyone’s skin is different,” says Erynn Keefe, VP of marketing for Derma brands at Beiersdorf.
“There’s no longer a one-size-fits-all approach to sun protection,” adds Taylor.
“Consumers can now find a solution through scientifically advanced sunscreens tailored to their individual skin needs – that go beyond basic sun protection and address their skin concerns, ranging from sensitive skin to dry skin to aging skin.”
The 5 AOX Shield line is made for different skin types and tones and those who have aging skin, acne-prone skin and dry or sensitive skin.
Extending regional reach
“With the addition of Eucerin Sun, we are perfectly complementing our existing skincare range in the US and meeting an unfulfilled consumer need,” comments Keefe.
Eucerin discloses that its market shares and sales have increased year over year, aiming to double its sales in the US by 2026. “To achieve this target, the brand is focused on a strong business strategy, compelling consumer communications and close cooperation with retailers.”
Eucerin’s research is based on how skin functions, changes and reacts to translate the findings into dermo-cosmetic products.
“With the recent opening of a new regional innovation center in New Jersey, the brand has created a basis to support the development of further skin and sun care products in the region,” shares the brand.
