Gaia Remedies unveils yoni steaming herbal blend line for vaginal health
29 Nov 2021 --- UK-based Gaia Remedies has released its yoni steaming herbal blends line that is claimed to help prevent menstruation pain, aid postpartum healing, relieve menopause symptoms and improve overall vaginal health.
PersonalCareInsights speaks to co-founder of Gaia Remedies, Claire Dixon, who details the potential of yoni steaming as an “alternative and natural practice” to conventional medicine.
Gaia Remedies’ yoni steaming herbal blends are also said to help reduce pain from endometriosis, tone and speed healing postpartum, minimize fibroids and cysts and relieve vaginal infections and dryness.
Holistic health in balance
The practice of yoni steaming is a “holistic practice in which a woman allows the warmth of herbal steam to permeate the exterior of her vagina.”
“Yoni steaming promotes an alternative and natural healing practice, which many people are seeking in a world full of synthetic chemicals,” explains Dixon.
“It is non-invasive and does not have most of, if any of, the side effects that conventional medication today has, especially when it comes to some of the medications offered for PMS or period pain. These symptoms are normally treated with contraception medication, which can have severe side effects for many people.”
Yoni steaming increases circulation, clears the uterus of stagnation, balances vaginal flora and regulates the menstrual cycle, which can lead to many benefits for vaginal health.
Safety and herbs used
Gaia Remedies’ yoni steaming herbal blends line includes the “herbal blend,” “all-round blend,” “balancing blend” and “synchronizing blend.”
Yoni steaming is a safe practice, affirms Dixon. “Like when making a cup of tea, there is a risk that you might burn yourself, but if made attentively and cautiously, it is a safe practice that many of us do every day.”
“The plants used are carefully selected, none of them being poisonous,” she adds.
There are no toxic chemicals added to the blends and this is ensured by only using organically certified herbs.
“The Yoni steaming line has over 15 different herbs, including the common ones that people know, such as rose, lavender and chamomile,” Dixon illustrates.
“The herb raspberry leaf was chosen to support the uterus, as it is well known as a herb used by pregnant women to support them during their pregnancy. The rosemary herb was selected to help balance the vaginal flora as it has been researched and shown to have antimicrobial properties, similarly to the lavender.”
All ingredients included in our yoni steaming herbal blends are organic certified by both the Soil Association and Biodynamic Association.
Botanicals to restore vaginal balance
Dixon continues to explain how the “all-round blend” hydrates, cleanses and restores vaginal balance.
“In the all-round blend, the red clover is one of the herbs that is known to promote hydration. Our cleansing herb is the motherwort known to encourage menstruation, which helps with clearing the uterus from any stagnation – which can contribute to menstrual pain.”
“Other cleansing herbs are the antimicrobial ones such as lavender or rosemary which have disinfecting properties if there is an unusual overgrowth of bacteria or fungus – which can be the cause of infections such as the most common yeast infection.”
In alleviating PMS symptoms and menstrual cramps, “lady’s mantle, marigold and mugwort are some of the herbs commonly used,” she adds.
Lady’s mantle has a similar effect to gestagens – an important class of female sex hormones – and it can alleviate PMS symptoms such as irritability, bloating or breast tenderness.
Menopausal symptoms and postpartum healing
Gaia Remedies’ yoni steaming herbal blends are also said to help with postpartum healing after childbirth, as well as menopause.
The main herb used for postpartum healing is called yarrow. Yarrow accelerates postpartum healing as it has blood staunching abilities (stops excessive bleeding), comments Dixon.
She adds that the yarrow herb was previously used on bandages to help heal a soldier’s wounds.
“Certain herbs help ease menopausal symptoms, such Gaia Remedies regulating herbs – mugwort and motherwort – which help to regulate the cycle more,” she claims.
“Additionally, the pain-relieving herbs, lady’s mantle and yarrow help with painful periods.”
Tracking intimate care products
Industry players have been actively innovating NPD that caters to the intimate care market.
Previously, LastObject released LastPad, a reusable feminine hygiene product designed to reduce the industry’s environmental impact.
In September, Synbio Tech’s SynForU-HerCare lactobacilli strain was effective in treating vaginal candidiasis, according to a study published in the Journal of Applied Microbiology. Meanwhile, P&G brand Always and Thrive Global unveiled a free menstrual period tracker and wellness app.
Additionally, the menstrual period tracker app Clue and L’Oréal partnered to understand the relationship between skin health and the menstrual cycle.
Among other developments in the feminine hygiene space, a UK campaigner recently confronted Procter and Gamble (P&G) over menstrual product pollution, following evidence that 45 billion menstrual products are disposed of yearly worldwide.
