Hermès Beauty releases luxurious Le Regard makeup collection to elevate the eyes
23 Oct 2023 --- Hermès Beauty has launched a makeup collection named Le Regard, which centers around the eyes and transforms them through bold colors.
The French fashion house’s collection was designed by Pierre Hardy, the brand’s creative director for shoes and jewelry. He says the makeup collection focuses on “the eyes, the gaze.”
Le Regard includes six eyeshadow palettes, six mascaras, four brushes and an eyelash curler.
Eye on the prize
The six luxury eyeshadow quartets are refillable and retail for US$108. The palettes are called Ombres d’Hermès as an homage to the ombre color schemes in each quartet.
The shadows deliver three more neutral colors, while the last is made to be a statement color arranged in two round and two square pans.
“When you build layer by layer, you need a bit more patience, but you can control it better. If you go with a bold color and then you cannot work with it, it means you have to remove it and start from scratch,” Hardy tells Life & Leisure.
“Our audience is not a professional makeup artist, it’s a woman who wants to go to work or go at night to a social event. These palettes are here to empower but also to invite every woman to express herself the way she wants. When you see the texture [on application], it starts very thin, and you can really build up the impact of the color.”
The Ombres Fauves palette comprises neutral brown and champagne colors with a singular pop of orange. Meanwhile, Ombres Fumées holds darker black, brown and silver colors, suitable for a smokey eye. Ombres Végétales includes green tones with a brightening champagne tone. Ombres Marines houses two neutral-warm colors with two cooler blues. The last palette, Ombres Mordorées features golden shades and shimmers with a mauve and cool brown.
Mascara and brushes
The Trait d’Hermès mascaras inspired by heritage Hermés shades retail for US$68. Violet Indigo is a deep cerulean color and Vert Titian comes in a dark bottle green shade, Rouge H is a cherry brown color with a hint of burgundy. Bleu Encre emanates a cobalt blue, Brun Bistre is a neutral brown and Noir Fusain is a classic black color.
The four brushes comprise an angled brush for sharper lines, a flat top for packing on color, a dome-shaped blending brush and an eyebrow brush for shaping the brows. The primary colors of the brushes are black, white and gold, with each eyeshadow brush color-coded with blue or green hues — contrarily, the eyebrow brush is wrapped in yellow. The bushes are designed to give the look of collectible items instead of solely beauty tools.
Hermès Beauty was launched in 2020 with a range of lipsticks. Since then, the brand has expanded with nail polish and blushes. It has been revealed that Hermès Beauty will launch skin care products in the future.
