Loli Beauty unveils “winter skin miracle worker” Plum Elixir to moisturize dry skin
03 Nov 2021 --- With the winter season upon us, zero waste superfood skincare brand Loli Beauty is unveiling a multi-purpose Plum Elixir that targets the needs of the skin brought on by a colder atmosphere. Loli’s Plum Elixir is an ultra-hydrating serum for glowing skin and healthy hair.
Tina Hedges, founder and CEO of Loli Beauty, speaks with PersonalCareInsights about the company’s latest product offering.
“Our Plum Elixir is an antioxidant, winter skin miracle worker since it contains organic sea buckthorn fruit oil - a Tibetan arctic berry with 190 bio-actives to boost collagen,” she explains.
“The upcycled fruit oil from this ‘arctic berry’ has been used for 1300 years to help fight the signs of aging since it survives the severe winters of the Himalayan Mountains, including extreme UV radiation & arctic temperatures.”
The “invigorating” winter chill zaps moisture from our skin – the significant drop in temperature brings an equal reduction in humidity, and this combination is not beneficial for skin moisture, she details.
“Dehydrated skin is vulnerable, so when exposed to dry, indoor heat and harsh winds, the complexion becomes dry, cracked, sensitive and even more susceptible to conditions like rosacea, eczema or psoriasis.”
Multi-purpose product
The Plum Elixir is a “beauty multitasker.” For dry, parched or stressed complexions, it’s a rejuvenating, restorative oil that replaces your serum or moisturizer, details Hedges.
Additionally, it rejuvenates stressed hair locks and can be used as a pre-shampoo scalp treatment as it nourishes and soothes flakey, itchy scalps.
“For lips, the Plum Elixir is edible and can be used as a chapped lip treatment or a lip gloss,” she adds.
“Plum Elixir can be used on skin, hair, scalp, lips as well as your neck, chest, hands, cuticles – this oil is good for anywhere that needs hydration, smoothing, soothing and brightening. It’s also good for sensitive, red, chapped or peeling skin or scalps.”
Moisturizing ingredients
The ingredients used to formulate the Plum Elixir include plum kernel, nourishing, healing oil for skin and hair pressed from the French Ente plum. It is rich in vitamins A and E, antioxidants and fatty acids.
Also included in the ingredients is pomegranate, which is rich in antioxidants and vitamin C. It works to refine and brighten the complexion and helps protect skin and hair for a “long-lasting smooth, radiant complexion and shiny locks.”
The tea seed in the Plum Elixir is a “natural secret” of Japan’s geisha for soothing. Tea seed – also known as camelia seed – keeps skin blemish-free and hair healthy. It is anti-inflammatory and non-comedogenic and contains vitamins A, B, D, and E.
The last ingredient in the Plum Elixir is sea buckthorn, an arctic beautyberry for healing, deeply moisturizing with 190 bio-actives and omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids to boost collagen production. It has been used historically in the Himalayas to help moisturize, decrease lines and wrinkles and help address symptoms of eczema and rosacea.
Upcycled and sustainable
The organic plum kernel oil is upcycled from a rare French plum. Loli Beauty worked with a fourth-generation farm that disposed of the kernel from the Ente plum when making pitted prunes or prune juice.
“We found that the cold-pressed oil from this kernel is more potent than argan or marula oil for skin or hair,” says Hedges.
“We make our product without adding any water – most skin, hair and body products are made with 80 to 95% water which means that the active ingredients are diluted – not to mention all the preservatives and synthetic ingredients which can be toxic.”
The product is then packaged in food-grade, reusable glass and certified home compostable materials. All of Loli Beauty’s products are multi-purpose and concentrated, says the company.
Additionally, Hedges adds that “for every purchase of a Loli product, we clean up to two pounds of plastic on the planet. Last year alone, we cleaned up the equivalent of a large orca whale in weight of plastic. We also use less than 1% of recycled and reusable plastic across all our packaging.”
Also using upcycle ingredients is Honestly it’s with its biodegradable all-in-one body wash, exfoliator and moisturizer scrub powder made from upcycled coffee grinds.
