Lubrizol’s beauty arm unveils serums in single-use capsules for improved hygiene
09 Mar 2021 --- Lubrizol Life Science Beauty is introducing Caps2go, a skin care serum available in five formulas, packaged in single-use capsules.
The packaging is designed to appeal to consumers seeking personal care products with better hygiene standards amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Each Caps2go capsule is a single application that dispenses the right amount of product and can then be discarded, minimizing consumer contact with packaging.
The capsule shell, which is biodegradable and derived from carrageenan, protects the active ingredients and guarantees freshness.
The serums are soft, light and fast-spreading and each formula has been tested for stability, the company notes.
The five formulas are designed with the “perfect concentration and combination” of actives to deliver a specific benefit.
Capsules and COVID-19-inspired hygiene
In the same spirit as Lubrizol, Catalent recently launched CosmoPod Duo, a softgel capsule for the delivery of topical skin treatments.
Based on the company’s CosmoPod unit-dose twist-off capsule technology, the capsule features segregated compartments to accommodate two formulations into a single twist-off solution.
Meanwhile, the COVID-19 outbreak is creating the need for increased hygiene in various delivery formats. In this space, UK-based Lifestyle Packaging designed a novel one-hand dispensing mechanism for alcohol-based hand sanitizer coined Snappd.
The capsule shell is biodegradable, derived from carrageenan and protects the active ingredients in the formula.The product is a brandable packaging innovation developed to deliver a single-dose solution with minimal contact when dispensing liquids.
According to the company, Snappd offers an even more sanitary solution than traditional plastic unit dose bottles, which can be touched by several people and contribute to the spread of bacteria and viruses.
Skin care’s fab five
Caps2go Renew is an “antioxidant shelter” touted as detoxing and can give the skin a glowing appearance.
Renew contains the active ingredient lipochroman, which is a molecule that acts as an antioxidant for in and out detox and improves skin appearance.
In testing, the final formulation showed improved skin appearance in as quickly as 15 minutes. It also contains vitamin C and retinol S10.
Caps2go Lifting fights expression wrinkles and is a safer topical alternative to Botulinum toxin. It contains the active ingredient argireline, a peptide which targets wrinkle volume.
Caps2go Look includes active ingredients such as argireline peptide and the Eyeseryl peptide, which can decrease the appearance of dark circles and improve the under-eye region’s appearance.
Caps2go Bright offers a radiant and even complexion. It contains the lipochroman molecule, which acts as an antioxidant for in and out detox and improves the skin’s appearance.
It also contains the Brightlette marine ingredient, which diminishes the size and color of dark spots, diminishing the pigment by 61.1 percent after eight weeks, the company reveals
Caps2go Firming lifts and reshapes mature skin. It contains the active ingredient Uplevity peptide, which lifts and reshapes the face contour while restructuring the dermis.
Antarcticine marine ingredient supports a firm and youthful complexion, showing a 44 percent average decline in the depth of wrinkles after four weeks, the company supports.
“These products are resonating well among consumers. According to our sentiment analysis research, online product consumer reviews showed 90 percent of positive quotes, with 100 percent of positive quotes for the benefit ‘ease of use’ and 91 percent for ‘perceived results,’” the company notes.
