MAC’s new foundation serum taps skinification with 33 skin care ingredients

22 Aug 2023 --- MAC Cosmetics has launched Studio Radiance Serum-Powered Foundation that is buildable, weightless and provides 24-hour hydration, touted to smooth texture, even tone and blur the look of pores.

Clinical testing of the foundation on 28 panelists showed 209% instant hydration, while clinical testing on 20 panelists showed 12-hour lasting radiance.

Moreover, the foundation strengthened and reinforced the skin barrier by 38% in clinical testing on 21 panelists after using the product once.

The brand encourages consumers to achieve a customized glow with the Artist-Curated Radiance Blend, made from silver and gold pearlescent particles to match the undertones of “light and rich skin.”

Star ingredients
Of the 33 skin care ingredients, 10% hyaluronic acid solution for hydration and vitamin E for protecting against environmental and blue light pollution are spotlighted.

Jojoba oil for skin conditioning and olive oil for skin nourishment are also featured. MAC claims that the foundation also reduces the appearance of skin redness, dark spots and dry fine lines. Clinical testing of the foundation showed 209% instant hydration.

Some other ingredients include glycerin, sunflower seed extract, cucumber fruit extract, snow mushroom extract and barley extract.

Additional benefits
It is free from phthalates, parabens, formaldehyde donors, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, triclosan, d&c yellow no. 11, oxybenzone, synthetic microbeads 5mm or smaller.

Further benefits include safe use on sensitive skin while being water, sweat, humidity and transfer-resistant. MAC says it does not cause breakouts nor cake or crease.

The foundation serum foundation comes in 56 shades that can be virtually matched with a try-on feature.

Furthermore, the foundation’s glass bottle is recyclable and features a cap made with 30% PCR.

In related news this week, Estée Lauder Companies, the owner of the MAC, reported net earnings of US$1.01 billion, a dip from net revenues of US$2.39 billion in the prior year.

Further, Bollywood actor Bhumi Pednekar linked up with MAC for the 29th year of its Viva Glam charitable initiative, which “supports healthy futures and equal rights for all.”

In product developments this year, MAC launched LockedKiss Ink 24-hour lip color featuring the full spectrum of properties consumers want in an all-day lipstick – kissproof, waterproof and transfer-proof formula.
