Seqens Personal Care has added four blends to its Advens cosmetic ingredients portfolio, consisting of a range of multifunctional alternatives to traditional preservatives. The blends come with two fully bio-based “twins” and aim to drive eco-conscious product development.
Developed at the UK manufacturing site Chemoxy, an affiliate of Seqens, the multifunctional ingredients provide humectant and emollient properties. They also act as boosters by reducing the concentration of active preservatives in formulations.
The portfolio consists of AdvensProtect 56E (INCI: Pentylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Ethylhexylglycerin) and is specifically created for sensitive skin. AdvensProtect 56E Green is the “sustainable twin” of the 56E, being 100% bio-based, but using the same blend. Both are recommended at a dosage of 1-2.5%.
AdvensProtect 58E (INCI: Pentylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, and Ethylhexylglycerin) was created for formulators seeking a “one-stop solution.” AdvensProtect 58E Green mirrors the performance of the 58E, although being 100% bio-based. The suggested dosage is 0.5-1.5%.
Seqens says that the blends are suitable for all skin types and various formulations, including shampoos, creams, foundations, gels, lotions, and wet wipes.
The blends are cold-pressed, clear liquids, and are said to be easy to formulate with. They are also temperature- and pH-independent.
The two green options are certified ISO 16128 Natural Derived with a Natural Origin Index of one. The launch is a part of the company’s commitment to green chemistry and providing formulators with bio-based beauty ingredients.
