Symrise launches new line of bioactives for growing beauty-from-within market
30 Mar 2023 --- Symrise’s range of bioactives for nutricosmetics, branded Diana Food, aims to deliver “inside-out” beauty benefits for crucial consumer demands in skin conditioning and anti-aging, skin brightening, hair and nail care. The range includes naturally sourced bioactives, such as collagen type I, vitamins C and A and polyphenols from various fruits.
The company notes that active ingredients delivered from within may help provide beauty benefits. Human skin has a complex structure that may limit the delivery of certain skin care nutrients to the dermis. Skin is subject to aging caused by intrinsic processes and extrinsic environmental conditions.
“The new range shows how Symrise is delivering the best nature has to offer to serve consumers’ evolving needs. We will continue seeking additional natural and sustainable sources of inspiration to deliver innovative solutions,” notes Nathalie Richer, global health business leader of Symrise Food & Beverage Naturals.
“Our new and wide diana food ‘Beauty from within’ line, based on our expertise and know-how in health bioactives, answers the rising beauty consumers’ demand for more holistic and natural solutions.”

Symrise’s bioactive range includes hydrolyzed collagen for skin conditioning and anti-aging.
The company notes that type I collagen may contribute to skin elasticity and wrinkle reduction. Restructuring natural vitamins may support normal collagen formation, protecting cells from oxidative stress and aiding in maintaining normal skin.
Symrise has standardized its collagen Type I solution to a minimum of 55% collagen. Type I collagen, a structural protein, gives skin mechanical support, rigidity and integrity. This collagen source also provides chondroitin sulfate and hyaluronic acid. Combined with collagen, these help improve skin firmness and elasticity.
Symrise offers nail-strengthening collagen and a mix of hair-growth-promoting apple polyphenols in hair and nail care.
Collagen has become a staple ingredient in nutricosmetics. Formulators are experimenting with new ingredients that offer advanced synergies with collagen.

It explains that acerola fruit contains bioactive compounds, being one of the richest sources of natural vitamin C. Acerola juice powder and concentrates support skin elasticity thanks to its role in collagen formation and skin brightening.
Carrots add to this with their content of carotenoids, especially provitamin A and beta-carotene. Carotenoids can support skin radiance, limit skin roughness and counteract photoaging.
Another fruit in the product range, apple extract powder, contains 80% polyphenols, which can modulate skin pigmentation and lead to brighter skin. It may also promote hair growth.
Taking plant polyphenols orally is effective in preventing and reducing skin changes as a result of aging.
Cranberry, blueberry, aronia, acai, bilberry, blackcurrant and strawberry extracts or juice powders provide natural polyphenols that help skin brightening and prevent skin aging, concludes Symrise.
