Clean deodorant start-up Cleo+Coco’s new US$1 million in funding will support the launch of formulated clean products. It will also further the company’s environmental sustainability efforts and elevate the brand from indie to mainstream status. Cleo+Coco are promoting the shift from conventional deodorants to aluminium, paraben- and phthalate-free. With the deodorant space estimated at US$75 billion, brands that merge the benefits of clean beauty and personal care will dominate the market in the coming five years.
In Q1 of fiscal year 2022, ending September 30, 2021, Coty’s revenues increased 22%, surpassing guidance of high-teens Like for like (LFL) growth, with a combination of strong brick and mortar growth and 23% growth in e-commerce. Coty’s Prestige business delivered 35% reported and 34% LFL growth in the quarter, despite a low single-digit negative impact from the continued reduction of sales in low quality channels. Prestige fragrance sales increased strongly across nearly all brands, with particularly strong performance from Gucci, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Chloe.
Arcade Beauty launched a new division called Arcade Beauty Retail to provide end-to-end services to the beauty and retail segments that feature formulation, manufacturing, packaging and marketing. The division offers turn-key solutions to customers while focusing on eco-friendly, innovative packaging and delivery systems, sustainable materials and responsible sourcing, as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.

Origins, a specialist in active naturally-derived skincare, signed Indy Officinalis, a sustainability activist and urban farmer, as its new Global Influencer Partner. Indy, based in Los Angeles, will support the work of Origins Green the Planet, which helps restore global ecosystems and support environmental justice organizations worldwide. She will also appear in campaign visuals while developing engaging and educational social media content for Origins best-selling franchises such as Mega Mushroom and GinZing.
