P&G Beauty and Solvay partnered to implement Solvay’s Sustainable Guar Initiative (SGI), which will aid with scaling up guar production, empower more women farmers and enhance the livelihoods of smallholder guar bean farmers in India. The SGI launched in 2015 and aimed to develop sustainable guar production at scale within the Bikaner desert district of Rajasthan, India. The district is one of the country’s largest guar producers and supplies Solvay with guar as a natural and renewable resource for Jaguar used in hair and body care formulations.
US-based creators of ammonia-free foam hair dye Hally Hair’s products will be available nationwide at select Ulta Beauty stores. Following a successful online debut late last year, Hally will be featured in the new class of Sparked at Ulta Beauty, a curated assortment of beauty brands retailing for the first time. Hally Hair will expand distribution into 324 stores this May. Hally’s Color Cloud foaming hair color will also be among the “first” clean hair dye certified within Conscious Beauty at Ulta Beauty. The vegan Color Cloud hair color is ammonia-free and is positioned as gentle on hair.
In partnership with Essence, Aveeno entered its second year of the Aveeno Skin Health Startup Accelerator Pitch Competition. In its second year, the program will continue to provide the tools and resources for up-and-coming Black female entrepreneurs with a chance to win US$100,000 and a trip to Essence Fest. The latter is a high-visibility forum where the winners will be recognized. Aveeno invites entrepreneurs with a product, brand or technology that meets the skin or hair care needs of Black consumers to pitch themselves and their business. The award will also include hands-on business guidance and mentorship from thought leaders for package design, marketing and accounting.

Rock and Roll Beauty, Authentic Hendrix and The Thread Shop – a division of Sony Music Entertainment – unveiled their limited-edition Jimi Hendrix Beauty Collection. The Rock and Roll Beauty Collection celebrates Jimi Hendrix and his groundbreaking musical genius, amplified through his style. The collection has a 1960’s vibe, with his signature song Purple Haze taking center stage in the creation of the line. The “Hey Baby” artistry palette with its names pulled from the 1960s, such as “Dolly Dagger” and “Right On,” features smooth, blendable shades combining pigmented buttery mattes with soft satins and shimmer. Meanwhile, the “Foxy Lady” matte lip duos offer three fiery colors with a long-wearing matte liquid lipstick and a complimentary defining lip liner.
To make the shaving category more environmentally sustainable, Edgewell Personal Care released its Schick Xtreme Men’s and Schick Intuition Women’s Bamboo Hybrid Razors. The products are designed to be more sustainable than traditional razors by using materials for products and packaging containing recycled, recyclable or renewable materials. The Schick Xtreme and Schick Intuition Bamboo Hybrid Razors feature handles made from bamboo. Other features include three-flexible blades made with 75% recycled steel in recyclable packaging. These hybrid razors are sold in kits with one handle for every three cartridges, generating less overall waste versus a traditional disposable razor.
Arcade Beauty Clarins recreated the application experience of Clarins’s Lip Comfort Oil. For Clarins’ new lip oil launch, Arcade Beauty handled the development of its sample, replicating the same experience of the retail product. The colors are vibrant and add shine. Arcade Beauty used the retail applicator to recreate the identical application experience for the consumer. This sample is a customized thermoform enclosed in a sleeve card. To open the product, the thermoform top is folded to break the seal and the applicator can then be pulled out and applied to the lips. The sample is manufactured and filled at one of the group’s French manufacturing sites.
China-based market distributor Yaguang Borui Medicine Technology of home beauty company Excelsior Medical Group (EMG) unveiled EMG’s suite of handheld home beauty devices in the country. EMG’s new series of devices offers a remarkable user experience that is effective and convenient. Among the products is the EMG Smart Firm, a household radiofrequency (RF) beauty instrument that combats wrinkles with precision. By heating the dermis, the thickest layer of the skin, with RF energy waves, the device tightens the face and reduces the appearance of fine lines. The dermis can handle temperatures of over 42 degrees celsius, with the heat creating the necessary environment to stimulate collagen production. According to the company, through a 15-minute session, users can achieve significant lifting and tightening of the facial skin due to years of R&D in beauty and RF technology.

KVD Beauty unveiled Tattoo Pencil from the brand’s liquid liner, now in an ultra-smooth gel pencil. Additionally, the brand named Paris Jackson as the face of the Tattoo Pencil liner. Paris Jackson is the daughter of Michael Jackson and she is also a model, actress, singer and musician. The new Tattoo Pencil Liner is a long-wear gel eyeliner featuring high-impact pigment with a bold matte finish. Also, the pencil is waterproof, transfer-resistant and fade resistant for all-day wear on the lid or waterline. The formula sets fast and locks in place for all-day wear, KVD Beauty notes.

Washroom hygiene services company Citron Hygiene and provider of free-vend period product dispensers Aunt Flow are set to donate 20,000 period products to support those affected by the conflict in Ukraine. With the help of Support The Girls, a non-profit organization that helps impoverished women, they are getting these essentials to those who need them in Ukraine.
