Unilever condemned the war in Ukraine and addressed calls to leave Russia. Since March 2022, the company has ceased all imports and exports into and out of Russia and stopped all media and advertising spending. La Roche-Posay supported the Skin of Color and Pigmentary Disorders Research Fellowship at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California, US. The fellowship allows students between the third and fourth year of medical school to research ethnic skin conditions and pigmentary disorders that will advance skin of color dermatology. The fellows also lead service-related initiatives to support underserved communities, such as DermRISES, a pipeline service program to increase exposure to the sciences, medicine and dermatology amongst inner-city students; and Dermmunity, a community service program aimed to increase education about dermatologic health in underserved Los Angeles communities.
The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) supported the Earthquake stricken countries of Turkey and Syria. To help employees impacted by catastrophic disasters, personal disasters and personal hardships, the company created the ELC Cares Fund to provide eligible employees globally with immediate and critical financial relief. ELC, its brands and Charitable Foundation are pledging a total donation of US$400,000 to UNICEF to support critical relief and recovery efforts for children and families in affected areas. Additionally, through ELC Good Works, the company is offering a double-match (US$2 for every US$1 donated, or local currency equivalent) on eligible employee donations to various non-profits year-round, including the ELC Cares Fund.
On Valentine’s Day, Cruelty-Free International celebrated with Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE, founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace, joining the organization to re-introduce the bipartisan Humane and Existing Alternatives in Research and Testing Sciences (HEARTS) Act. By representatives Chris Pappas (D-NH) and Ken Calvert (R-CA), the HEARTS legislation aims at modernizing the National Institutes of Health (NIH) research investment to prioritize the use and development of humane and effective alternatives to animals. The HEARTS Act directs the NIH to incentivize researchers to use non-animal methods. It establishes a dedicated center within the NIH devoted to advancing new alternative methods and developing a plan to reduce animal use in federal-funded research. In addition, the bill updates the definition of “animal” to include cephalopods (e.g.,octopuses) to ensure that the basic needs of these intelligent and sensitive animals are considered when used in NIH-funded research.Sea Vision Group launched AI technologies for cosmetic packaging.

Givaudan Active Beauty unveiled Gravityl, an anti-gravity face care ingredient providing a lift to the skin by improving the jawline and reducing double chin. Crafted by marine biotechnology from a red macro alga, this new active ingredient fights visible signs of aging such as skin sagging, double chin and loss of face contour. On a total of 84 volunteers, two clinical tests versus placebo established that Gravityl could relaunch the production of collagen fibers in mature skin and increase collagen content by 3.4 times while improving firmness and elasticity by up to seven times versus placebo. This new active ingredient also offers a lifting effect as it reduces the double-chin volume in one month (by more than 27 mm), visibly reshaping and reinforcing the structure of facial skin.
Pure Trade created the toiletry pouch and vanity case for the Lancôme Chinese New Year collection. The pouch is made of recycled soft-touch double PU monomaterial. Without inner lining, it is characterized by the finish at the seams, the metal zipper engraved with the rabbit pattern and the complex screen printing in six colors, including gold. The fabric zip band is also in r-PET. Like a hat box, the vanity case is made of a soft touch PU, recycled and with r-PET lining. It uses the same color codes. Its tapered base facilitates merchandising.Back To Earth Skin sets a new natural skincare standard with 100% natural skincare line, Glow.

Canadian skincare brand Back to Earth Skin launched its skincare line consisting of products powered by a proprietary Mineral Microbiome Clay Complex rich in minerals essential to skin health. The clay is sustainably harvested from Kisameet Bay Clay Deposit. It is free from marine and industrial waste, providing minerals necessary to skin health, including iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, potassium and zinc. Sea Vision Group announced it would be at the Marchesini Group Beauty stand (A/9PK) at the Cosmopack show in Bologna from March 16 to 18 with a new Artificial Intelligence technology applied to the visual inspection of lipsticks. The Sea Vision Group system – under development by a joint team from Sea Vision Group and Argo Vision – uses the semantic segmentation of the areas of the lipstick (e.g., body, tip, neck, mechanism, etc.) to identify every possible flaw pixel by pixel. The system self-learns how to discern an ever-increasing variety of more complex defects, item by item. At Cosmopack, Sea Vision Group will also present a complete hardware and software solution developed to oversee the authenticity of a cosmetic product throughout the supply chain.
Clariant exhibited at the PCHi tradeshow. Emollients of Beraca Brazilian Nut Oil Refined and Plantasens Abyssinian Oil, sugar-based mild surfactants under the GlucoTain innovative range and Plantasens Biogum Tara bio-polymer were among the highlights.
Aptar Beauty spotlighted its cosmetics packaging solutions at Luxe Pack, Los Angeles, US, from February 16 to 17. The company’s fully-recyclable, monomaterial and e-commerce capable lotion pump, Future; ultra-precise dispensing next-generation dropper, Stardrop and Essencia Bloom fragrance spray pump were some of the highlights.
