L’Oréal was awarded the Terra Carta 2021 Seal that recognizes global companies driving innovation and demonstrating their commitment to creating genuinely sustainable markets. It is being awarded to companies whose ambitions are aligned with those of the Terra Carta, a recovery plan for Nature, People and Planet, launched in January 2021. L’Oréal’s objective for the upcoming decade is a company whose activities are respectful of planetary boundaries. With L’Oréal for the Future, its second sustainability program, L’Oréal is accelerating its sustainable transformation. Among other commitments, it has pledged:

• To align with the 1.5°C scenario, reducing its greenhouse gas emissions of all scopes by 50% per finished product (25% in absolute terms), by 2030.

• To help restore by 2030 one million hectares of degraded ecosystems thanks to the L’Oréal Fund for Nature Regeneration, a 50 million euro impact investing fund.

Symrise received the Sustainability Heroes Award for the second year running from the German Society for Sustainability (DQS). Out of 212 applicants, six companies were awarded the seal. The DQS commended Symrise for its social engagement all along the supply chain. This year, the jury recognized the company in particular for its social engagement. It commended the sourcing model of Symrise, which draws on continual, close cooperation with local communities. For the Holzminden-based Group, this includes making jobs in agriculture attractive for young people again.
