Croda Beauty talks to Personal Care Insights at Cosmetic Business in Munich, Germany, about one of its latest ingredients for anti-aging applications and skin radiance and hydration. Technical marketing lead Larissa Legewie explains why Luceane is the first ingredient to combat hypoxiageing.

You have an exciting launch, Lucien.
Tell us what is so special about this ingredient.
I would say Lucien is the first ingredient to combat hypoxia aging.
I don't know if you've heard of it, so it's aging induced by cell hypoxia.
So the missing of oxygen.
And yeah, the active ingredient really boosts cell respiration and so in the end energy production so that the cells really have again enough energy to yeah.
Have all our, processes, so cell metabolism processes improved.
All right, that sounds very interesting.
I understand it's also a fermentation active ingredient, is that right?
Yeah, you're absolutely right.
So it's a very sustainable ingredient and it's obtained by a fermentation of a bacterium.
So it's a bacterium from Pseudo arteromona strain and it's isolated from the Bimini Islands of the Bahamas region.
So an area that is very known for its good air quality and skin barrier strengthening, that's also I've realized a big focus for many ingredients and I also understand that this ingredient offers solutions there too.
You're absolutely right.
So it's also very, very good, ah, for a skin, yeah, strength, skin barrier strengthening and yeah, one major claim that is new also it's, it does not only like, improve the , ceramide production by our own cells, but also the ceramide, so it uses a microbiota to produce ceramides.
So that's pretty new and you've got clinical studies, I believe, to, to back all this up, right?
Also, so that's exactly true.
So at at Zoderma or roda Beauty, we always have like a lot of clinical data to like back up our ingredients and also here we have like two big independent studies that were performed to show that the active cells would yeah.
Hydration of the skin, skin barrier strengthening, the skin radiance is improved, and I would say the major claim in the end you can do is that with 1 month of application you can save 5 years of premature skin aging, and that's great, right?
