AI-powered Awesome Woman prescription service poised to transform “broken healthcare” for women
24 Feb 2022 --- Women’s health and science company FemTec Health is partnering with US-based online prescription pharmacy company GeniusRx, launching the Awesome Woman platform. This allows women of all ages personalized and convenient access to prescriptions and supplements starting this month.
“We translate consumer, genetic, microbiome, and real-time monitoring into services and products that match the needs and individuality of each woman, so she is empowered to make her health decisions,” Dr. Clapper, health’s chief medical officer at FemTec, tells PersonalCareInsights.
The Awesome Woman platform is powered by machine learning, data science, AI and BiomeAI to translate customers’ data like genomics and healthcare history into personalized products.
Dr. Clapper adds the partnership with GeniusRx creates a unified and personalized experience for women to see a provider and conveniently receive their medications at home.
GeniusRx will provide affordable medication to Awesome Woman members by a home delivery service. In contrast, Awesome Woman, FemTec’s consumer brand, will provide the services and products 24/7 from a team of doctors and specialists.
The services target reproductive care, fertility and menopause, sexual wellness, mental health and chronic care.
Generating personalized health data at home
“Awesome Woman is a complete healthcare experience, with personalized analytics, real-time support, diagnostics and clinically proven products,” explains Dr. Clapper. She describes the product line, including “personalized probiotics, dietary supplements, at-home diagnostic tests and more.”
Science-backed beauty products and various health tests will be available in the coming months.
Dr. Clapper explains that, for example, the vaginal microbiome is unique, like fingerprints. Hence, the first subscription box offered by Awesome Woman includes a vaginal microbiome test.
“Our approach is to use health data, like the rich data we can obtain from the vaginal microbiome to bring women health and beauty products, individual to them.”
Examples of personalized products include probiotics and vitamins that hydrate or build immunity.
“With Awesome Woman’s telehealth services and GeniusRx’s competitive pricing and door-to-door accessibility, we remove the stress associated with having to go to the doctor and then to the pharmacy,” adds Dr. Kimon Angelides, executive chairman and interim CEO at FemTec.
“This is the first of many partnerships we will be announcing to reinvent women’s healthcare.”
“It’s time for the healthcare industry to transform into an end-to-end personalized experience for every woman, at every stage of her life,” adds Dr. Clapper.
Patient-centered approach
“It’s no secret that women’s healthcare is broken. Even though women make up 52% of the population and 80% of healthcare decisions at the family level are made by women, our healthcare system is not designed to meet their needs,” says Dr. Angelides.
“Many so-called ‘solutions’ are borrowed from general medicine or men’s health research. A lot less time and funding has gone into figuring out a holistic approach to meeting women’s needs. We have set out to fix the one-size-fits-all approach to women’s health.”
