Digital “AI Makeup Advisor” emerges from Revieve-Shiseido collaboration, targets deeper consumer insights
06 Apr 2022 --- Personalized digital company Revieve has designed an AI Makeup Advisor experience through a collaboration with its ongoing partner, cosmetic specialist Shiseido. The platform was created for clientele in the Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The collaboration brings Shiseido’s commitment to beauty innovation and Revieve’s AI Selfie Analysis, personalized AI recommendations and “true-to-life” virtual try-on technologies.
The AI Makeup Advisor helps women find a make-up routine customized to their specific beauty needs. The Metaverse era has firmly arrived with global brands ushering consumers into the digital world and its near infinite potential. With the support of AI and AR, industry is spearheading digital beauty innovation giving rise to advanced e-commerce, cosmetics tech and “phygital” solutions.

Pioneering AI skincare advisory capabilities
Revieve’s and Shiseido’s collaboration began in 2019 with the launch of the first Skincare Advisor across all Shiseido’s regional markets. Since then, the companies have worked together on a range of beauty and wellness projects.
Consumers can access the Makeup Advisor via Shiseido’s website, where they will be prompted to upload a selfie and answer questions based on their desired beauty goals. Revieve sources expertise from global brands, retailers and digital services providers in the beauty, skin, health and wellness categories.
The platform’s modules include the AI Skincare Advisor, AI Makeup Advisor, AI Haircare Advisor, AI Suncare Advisor and AI Nutrition Advisor.
Based on Revieve’s AI selfie analysis and user input, customers will receive a comprehensive list of recommended products based on a complete make-up application for the eyes, lips and face.
Already present in 88 countries, the partnership supports Shiseido’s roadmap of becoming a key personal beauty and wellness company that supports a diverse vision of beauty.

In other industry news, Givaudan launched DigiPulse to decode consumers’ online spontaneous comments about fine fragrances. The artificial intelligence (AI)-powered technology is marketed as the first olfactive social listening tool.
The pandemic gave significant rise to e-commerce which is now evolving to include social commerce and 3D e-commerce. Recognizing this, Lancôme unveiled a virtual UK pop-up store powered by ByondXR, which promises to boost consumer engagement to new heights.
Meanwhile, Coty entered a multi-channel agreement with Perfect Corp. enlisting the latter’s augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) technology to boost personalization and improve consumers’ digital experience.
Giving brands access to customer preferences
The AI advisor allows brands and retailers to gain a deeper understanding of their consumers, such as how they interact across touchpoints.

Revieve’s digital beauty platform delivers consumers targeted products, services and treatments such as easy-to-use self-diagnostic modules that personalize searches, product discovery and shopping experiences.
The platform facilitates personalized shopping solutions, in-person and live-video consultations with health and beauty advisors.
Also tapping into AI beauty solutions is Perfect Corp, which recently offered a personalized 360° AR virtual try-on experience with non-fungible tokens. The company has also partnered with MAC and SoPost for AI-driven foundation matching.
