Digital beauty enters Metaverse: Perfect Corp’s NFT offers personalized 360° AR virtual try-on
14 Mar 2022 --- AI and AR beauty solutions provider Perfect Corp. has launched NFT (Non-Fungible Token) services to allow consumers and beauty brands to interact with NFTs and help them create personalized AR try-on NFTs. The company claims it is the “first” to offer an AR-powered NFT try-on for digital asset owners.
Alice Chang, CEO and Founder of Perfect Corp. speaks to PersonalCareInsights explaining how the Metaverse is going to impact the beauty and personal care industry, on the difference between filters and AR-powered virtual try-on and lastly on its choice of futuristic theme.

Preparing beauty industry for Metaverse
“As the beauty and personal care worlds embrace the metaverse, interactive shopping experiences will be crucial to forge meaningful connections with consumers,” believes Chang.
She adds that: “Brands can prepare for this new channel by adopting advanced AR and VR technologies that can translate their products to the metaverse in ways that are personalized to the consumer's digital persona.”

On the difference between filters and AR-powered NFT, Chang says: “With NFT virtual try-on, virtual products and looks are available only to a select group of consumers who purchase the NFTs.” This creates exclusivity around the NFT assets.
“This is the first time a company is taking a 3D virtual asset and giving NFTs an actual utility that you can try on and experience. These assets can be worn throughout the digital platforms of the metaverse as part of the consumer’s digital persona.”
Chang explains that NFT collections can help build brand loyalty and further engagement as: “consumers are able to buy and access exclusive collector’s items.”
Perfect Corp.’s futuristic theme
The majority of NFTs are limited to three types of media: photos, videos, and audio which offers opportunities for owning digital assets and providing new formats for consumers to engage with, says the company.
Perfect Corp. has also launched its first virtual try-on NFT collection, available to try-on on its website. Consumers will be able to interact with various beauty and fashion categories, including makeup looks and nail art.
“We took a futuristic and fun theme for our initial NFT collection to make a splash and show what is possible as we enter this exciting new space and look towards what’s next for retail in the metaverse,” says Chang.

Partnership opportunities
The company explains that as brands enter the Metaverse, digital assets become valuable – they can also be adapted for consumers to immerse themselves in virtual stores, for instance.

Perfect Corp. helps beauty brands offer an NFT experience for its customers via its preferred website or apps. It uses AR tech to create NFTs, which marks its assets as uniquely different from the current image, video and audio format, says the company.

Perfect Corp. will place new items for the NFT marketplace (e.g., OpenSea) purchasable with cryptocurrency. Once the NFT has been purchased, the NFT will be delivered to a connected NFT wallet with a unique link to the AR filter. The link allows the owner to try on the filter via Perfect Corp.’s platform.

NFT, AI and AR developments
Color-aesthetic design company Pantone, crypto-currency company Tezos Blockchain and crypto-artist Polygon1993 teamed up for NFT art giveaways in related news.
AI and AR advancements by Perfect Corp. led to partnerships with L’Oréal for precision skin tech and MAC for personalized virtual foundation pickers and try-on. The company also offers AgileHand and AgileFace technology for realistic virtual try-on.
