Gelita unveils Soluform and Verisol HST for confectionery and beauty-from-within gummies
14 Mar 2022 --- Collagen proteins manufacturer and supplier Gelita is unveiling two gelatin products, Soluform, which is a protein booster and Verisol HST for beauty applications. They are touted as “hassle-free” in production and ensure great taste and texture for supplement gummy solutions while delivering the health benefits consumers demand.
The company is also positioning its Bioactive Collagen Peptides (BCP) for athletes and active lifestyle consumers, following its attendance at the Natural Products Expo West 2022 in Anaheim, US.
“Consumers are increasingly aware of the properties that BCP can provide to their health and well-being. They know exactly about the stimulating effects of those peptides to their skin and the entire musculoskeletal system,” Oliver Wolf, global marketing and communication at Gelita, tells NutritionInsight.
Innovating confectionery and beauty gummies
Soluform is a protein booster for confectionery. According to Wolf, it allows for a protein dosage in gummy confectionery up to 35%. Additionally, it enables confectionery developers to reduce the sugar content to as low as 40% (compared to 70% in a regular gummy).
“Secondly, Verisol HST ushers in a new era for beauty gummies. A load of 15% of the BCPs is easily achievable with this. Consumers can achieve the required daily dose of Verisol by eating three gummies,” says Wolf.
Skincare brand Regenacol previously highlighted that Verisol might reduce wrinkles, promote skin elasticity and raise collagen levels in the body.Verisol HST allows for a load of 15% of BCPs to be used in beauty gummies.
Gelatin delivery systems
Wolf highlights the importance of in-person trade shows like Natural Products Expo from a marketing point of view.
“This [face to face setting] is especially relevant in the food and health and nutrition business where taste, mouthfeel and emotions play such a crucial role. We need a direct contact with our target group to provide a look, feel and taste of our products and solutions,” Wolf explains.
The company was also showcasing its delivery systems that can be customized for “precise effect, timing and duration of the fill release.” Specifically, its gelatin line is suitable for soft gel, hard capsule or gummy delivery formats.
Gelita EC is the “first and only” gelatin product for soft gels with full enteric performance. Capsule manufacturers may now make capsules with Gelita EC and their existing equipment in a single step. Secondly, the Gelita RXL delivery system improves shelf stability and reduces cross-linking.
Lastly, the Gelita RXL R2 is suitable for faster active fill release and custom-designed standard gelatins for optimum hard and soft capsule performance.Healthy aging is an area BCP plays a major role as they keep the elderly mobile and support them to cope with their regular daily routine.
“Consumers’ growing demand for proteins delivered in new ways has gummies starring in the Health & Nutrition space,” says Wolf.
Emerging and shifting collagen trends
Wolf states that collagen is still a “huge trend that shows no signs of cooling down.”
Within sports and active nutrition, a new target group is evolving: the e-sports athletes. Another big driver for collagen is beauty from within, the company details.
“Also, they are aware that not all collagen peptides are equal, but there are very specific BCP individually targeting different tissues of our body, i.e., skin, bones, joints, muscles and ligaments and tendons,” Wolf explains.
“Healthy aging is another area BCP plays a major role as they keep the elderly mobile and support them to cope with their regular daily routines.”
“Also, in other areas such as delivery formats, collagen and gelatin play an important role to either make sure the active ingredients are delivered to the right place inside the body or to provide alternatives for those who no longer want to swallow pills,” he adds.
Collagen: An “all round” ingredient
Gelita’s BCP Tendoforte is pegged as suitable for maintaining healthy ligaments and tendons. Gelita’s Fortibone may be ideal for bone stability, flexibility and increase in bone mass. Lastly, its Bodybalance aids with muscle strength.
Gelita previously told NutritionInsight that bioactive peptides boost collagen formation, and the company expanded its portfolio with the Immupept brand, targeting immunity. Also, its fortigel bioactive collagen peptide was found to restore cartilage, maintain joint mobility and reduce joint discomfort.
