Euromed takes Mediterranean botanicals to Vitafoods Asia highlighting holistic beauty
03 Oct 2022 --- Euromed will be displaying its assortment of fruit and vegetable extracts at Vitafoods Asia later this year. Made using the company’s patent-pending Pure-Hydro Process, these extracts contain botanical components scientifically proven to promote holistic health for a beauty-from-within effect.
The organic extracts are inspired by the Mediterranean diet and its plant-based feature offers accessible phytochemicals that are regarded as key contributors to the overall advantages, such as cardiovascular health and inner beauty.
“The link between foods, health and physical appearance is increasingly evident: poor eating habits can promote an age-related decline in tissue function and progressive deterioration across multiple organ systems, with concomitant cosmetic issues,” explains Andrea Zangara, head of scientific communications and marketing at Euromed.
Polyphenols for the skin
A Mediterranean diet contains large amounts of polyphenol-packed fruit, vegetables and oil. Polyphenols are distinguished for their prebiotic and antioxidant qualities.
Extracts from pomegranates, olives, artichokes, figs, spinach, lemons and cucumbers are among the range of ingredients included in Euromed’s botanical products.
The company’s PureHydroProcess technology is used to create all the Mediterranean fruit and vegetable extracts. These can consequently be used in dietary supplements, functional foods, meals, drinks, nutricosmetics, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
Pomanox is manufactured from pomegranates grown sustainably in Spain’s Mediterranean region, with tight quality controls applied to the chosen raw materials.
According to the comapny, numerous studies have shown that it has health-promoting and nutraceutical effects, including those related to skin protection, cardiovascular health, cognitive function and sports nutrition.
One of nature’s most potent antioxidants, hydroxytyrosol (HT), is standardized in the olive fruit extract known as mediteanox. This polyphenol is what provides olive oil – a staple of the Mediterranean diet – its EFSA-verified ability to shield blood lipids from oxidative damage.
Olive-derived polyphenols can reduce or prevent atherosclerosis by inhibiting the oxidation of low-density lipoprotein and the subsequent buildup in arteries. Since lipid oxidation is seen in human skin and causes problems like photoaging, HT is also seen as being advantageous for the health and appearance of the skin, which makes it useful for cosmetic applications.
Improving the skin’s elasticity
Mediteanox supplies HT antioxidant qualities in useable and patented formulations, based on a standardized HT content and backed by animal and clinical data.
The trademarked fig fruit extract ABAlife is standardized for abscisic acid (ABA). ABAlife and Cynamed have additional benefits.
According to research, the extract displays the ability to lower the glycemic index (GI) of glucose and lower post-prandial blood glucose and insulin levels, which suggests that it may have metabolic benefits and shield skin from the harmful effects of glycation end products (AGEs).
Glycation is a chemical reaction that causes impairment in normal cellular and tissue functions, which leads to impaired elasticity in the skin.
Furthermore, inulin and polyphenols are combined in measured proportions in cynamed, which is the extract of the edible component of an artichoke bud.
Since there is a known connection between microbial dysbiosis and skin disorders, the artichoke extract has been proven to have bifidogenic prebiotic actions that may help digestive care and improve gut and microbiome health as well as skin health.
Zangara will discuss the advantages of Mediterranean fruit and vegetable extracts for wellness and beauty from within at Vitafoods Asia on October 6.
