From anti-aging to age reversal: Estée Lauder’s skin longevity initiative
18 Dec 2023 --- Estée Lauder’s latest leap in skin care innovation involves its new Skin Longevity platform. The beauty giant says it is trying to redefine the anti-aging conversation with 15 years of “pioneering” research to help lead the industry into an era of visible age reversal.
“Longevity is one of the fastest-growing movements in the beauty and wellness industries. Estée Lauder has been pioneering skin longevity research, and we already have the proven technology to reveal visible age reversal,” states Justin Boxford, global brand president at Estée Lauder.
Estée Lauder is establishing a longevity expert collective across various disciplines. This collective aims to educate and empower consumers to rethink their approach to skin care and lifestyle, shifting the narrative from anti-aging to age reversal.
The brand also reinforces its commitment to research by collaborating with the Stanford Center on Longevity.
Sirtivity-LP tech unveiled
Estée Lauder’s journey into understanding skin aging focuses on sirtuins in the skin, which has led to 29 patents worldwide. Sirtuins are proteins that regulate cellular processes, including the aging and death of cells and their stress resistance.
The culmination of this research is the exclusive and patented Sirtivity-LP technology, shown to slow down and visibly reverse skin aging.
The brand will reveal thetechnology in its latest product, Re-Nutriv Ultimate Diamond Transformative Brilliance Soft Crème. Launching next January, it promises visible age reversal in 14 days.
Collaboration with the Stanford Center on Longevity
This partnership includes support for the center’s Program on Aesthetics & Culture, which aims to advance the understanding of perceptions regarding longevity and vitality.
“We know that aging well involves feeling good about ourselves. Yet, little research has explored links between appearance and well-being,” says Dr. Laura L. Carstensen, professor of psychology and Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr., professor of public policy and the director of the Stanford Center on Longevity.
“Extended life expectancy offers us the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of how people subjectively experience vitality and communicate this experience to others. As the largest organ, we believe that skin plays a sizable role in conveying this vitality. With support from Estée Lauder, we look forward to further exploring how physical appearance and visible skin health influence perceptions of aging.”
Estée Lauder Longevity Collective
Furthermore, Estée Lauder introduces its first-ever Longevity Collective, featuring influential experts in longevity science and lifestyle.
Early next year, this collective will serve as a brand advisory board, providing insights, research findings and resources to inform Estée Lauder’s ongoing approach to skin longevity research. In addition to internal experts, the collective includes external experts such as Dr. Danica Chen from the University of California Berkeley and Dr. Zakia Rahman from Stanford University School of Medicine.
“My grandmother, Estée, was a trailblazer. She was ahead of her time and changed how we think about aging, confidence and beauty. Today, the Estée Lauder brand continues to embody her pioneer spirit. I think she would be incredibly excited to see her namesake brand leading the new skin longevity movement and inspiring consumers everywhere to live well at any age,” shares Aerin Lauder, founder and creative director at Aerin and Style & Design director at Estée Lauder ReNutriv.
