Kimberly-Clark Professional invests in scaling skin care bottling capacity by 275%
15 Nov 2023 --- Kimberly-Clark Professional has made a multimillion-dollar investment to expand the production of skin care products and strengthen its North American supply chain in response to increased demands in this space.
“We know that customers depend on our skin care solutions to keep their workplaces hygienic,” says Susan Gambardella, president of Kimberly-Clark Professional North America.
“Never was this more important than since 2020, when hand hygiene demand soared virtually overnight.”
The business move is expected to increase the company’s bottling capacity by 275% for Kleenex and Scott soaps and sanitizers. Kimberly-Clark expects an increased ability will lead to the growth of its skin care category.
Meeting hygiene demands
The sustained desire for hand hygiene in North America has been reelected on Kimberly-Clark Professional’s hand hygiene products.
This need has led the company to focus on supplying and ramping up the production process for the future.
As a result, Kimberly-Clark has invested in new state-of-the-art technology and innovations targeting efficacy and maximized production.
“Our customers count on our trusted brands for hygienic skin care solutions, and it’s our job to get them what they need when they need it,” comments Kimberly-Clark Professional Skincare Category manager Alex Goran.
“As part of its commitment to quality, all sites that manufacture Kimberly-Clark Professional skin care products have multiple ISO certifications focused on quality and environmental management systems. In addition, Kimberly-Clark Professional maintains a ‘safety stock’ of products to support expected service levels,” shares the company.
Facility revamps
In other facility developments, BASF invested in a new plant in Düsseldorf, Germany, to produce emollients for skin care and sun protection products.
At the same time, the chemicals giant has signed a 25-year agreement with the Chinese State Power Investment Corporation to purchase renewable electricity for its Zhanjiang Verbund.
Also, Croda is set to establish a smart science manufacturing facility for high-performance fragrance and beauty active ingredients and solutions in Guangzhou, China, aligning with the company’s strategic expansion objectives in Asia.
