Personalized beauty: Olay and Pantene unveil skin and hair boosters
21 Apr 2022 --- Olay North America and Pantene North America are introducing boosters for the skin and hair that allow consumers to customize their routine with products that address their varied daily needs. The booster serum can be added to consumers’ regular hair and skin products.
These booster products are free of parabens, mineral oil and fragrance. They will be sold at Walmart and on the retailers’ website.
“Melding large scale availability and customization, Pantene and Olay, in collaboration with Walmart, sought to fill the [personalized beauty space] and tap into Olay's expertise when it comes to ingredients,” Stephanie Headley, Procter & Gamble’s senior VP and brand franchise leader of Olay and North America Skincare, tells PersonalCareInsights.
“Boosters deliver on the demand for personalization, ingredient efficacy and value, raising the bar for brands across the beauty category at large.”
“Walmart Beauty customers are always seeking products that deliver personalization and value. It is critical we continue to collaborate with our supplier partners to offer custom solutions at the speed of industry trends,” adds Creighton Kiper, merchandising vice president at Walmart Beauty.
To make the shopping experience easier, Olay and Pantene collaborated with Walmart to create an online survey to assist customers in identifying the boosters that are best suited to their specific hair and skin goals.
Personalizing products
The range of boosters suitable for use in skincare products includes the Olay AHA Brightening Booster, Olay Salicylic Acid Exfoliating Booster, Olay Coconut Oil Nourishing Booster, Olay Jojoba Moisturizing Booster and Olay Vitamin E Oil Nourishing Hydration Booster.
Meanwhile, the Pantene booster collection allows for personalized hair management by enabling consumers to mix the booster formulations with any Pantene conditioner to achieve the desired effect.
The collection of hair boosters includes the Pantene Pro-V Hydrate Booster, Pantene Pro-V Anti-Frizz Booster, Pantene Pro-V Strengthen Booster and Pantene Pro-V Color Enhance Booster.
According to Olay and Pantene’s R&D teams, extensive consumer testing and insights revealed that consumers want personalized beauty solutions based on individual demands.
The research showed that one of the most common trial obstacles for customers is the idea that stores “don’t stock products specific to my hair or skin.”
In Olay’s previous moves, the company’s North American division introduced the Easy Open Lid, a limited edition prototype developed with and for people with disabilities, tapping into the demand for disability-friendly product packaging.
Additionally, Olay expanded its body care line-up by introducing its Olay Body Lotion Collection. The collection may hydrate and rejuvenate skin’s surface cells for firmer and more radiant skin over time.
