Refill and recycle: Quadpack launches range of monomaterial lipstick packaging
04 Dec 2023 --- International beauty packaging manufacturer and provider Quadpack releases a full range of monomaterial lipsticks made of recyclable materials.
The five products, comprising aluminum, PP and PET designs and two refill formats, have an “advanced” level of environmental sustainability, according to Quadpack’s positive-impact product ratings system.
A full report is available for each lipstick, based on life-cycle assessments of their environmental impact. Although the tubes are designed for lipsticks, the range supports different types of formulas, from lip color to blush, concealer and solid fragrance.
Quadpack says the products can be adapted to suit any brand identity using various decoration techniques and finishes. Adding a soft-touch effect brings a sensory dimension to premium products.
Lipstick inspired by architecture
The range was named to reflect the “elegance of tall, iconic architectural structures,” including Oculus, Menara, Kouros, Reforma and Emerald.
Oculus is a refillable aluminum lipstick with a luxurious ribbed design. The pack can be refilled by pulling the cartridge out and snapping in the new product. The refill cap is made of PET, and the cup size is 127 mm, with a 4 to 4.2 g capacity. The pack has a balanced 50/50 ratio.
Menara is designed to support long-lasting claims, with an airtight closure to protect formulations from drying out. Its PP construction offers high compatibility, making it a solution for various skin care, makeup and solid fragrance products. Available with up to 50% PCR PP. The cup size is 110 mm and has a 3.5 to 3.8 g capacity.
Kouros has 90/10 proportions, with a modern design that features recyclability. The product is made entirely of PET but can include up to 50% PCR PET. The cup size is 127 mm with a 4 to 4.2 g capacity.
Reforma is designed for creamy formulas. The petite lipstick features a 50/50 design and a slanted tip to allow precise application on any area on the face. It is made of PET and can include up to 50% PCR PET. The cup size is 110 mm, with a 3.5 to 3.8 g capacity.
Emerald was the first PET lipstick to be launched in the range. Its cylindrical variant is now available with a twist-and-lock refill mechanism. The refill cap is made of high-density PE. Customers can twist the base to lock and unlock the lipstick for bullet replacement.
Emerald is also available in a square design and all variants can contain up to 100% recycled PET. All are top-filling and compatible with standard filling lines.
Quadpack sees these latest additions complement its growing portfolio of monomaterial makeup packaging, including sticks for the face and body and dip-in packs.
