Symrise has completed its acquisition of Floral Concept, acquiring 100% share capital and integrating the French premium natural fragrance ingredients house into its Fragrance division. The acquisition boosts Symrise’s competitiveness in the natural fine fragrance space as demand grows for differentiated, traceable, and sustainably sourced natural ingredients in perfumery.
The acquisition arrives as part of the fragrance and cosmetic ingredient supplier’s One Symrise strategy, which focuses on profitable growth, portfolio development, and resilience.
The deal was first announced in July as a put option agreement. With its completion, Symrise is now poised to form a dedicated Naturals cluster featuring Floral Concept and Maison Lautier 1795 in Pays de Grasse, France.
The Naturals cluster aims to combine capabilities across responsible sourcing, extraction, transformation, and fragrance creation provided by the two natural perfumery names.
“This milestone strengthens our Premium Naturals platform and adds exceptional sourcing relationships, natural raw material expertise, and transformation capabilities to our Fragrance business,” says Michael Friede, president of Scent & Care at Symrise.
Headquartered in the same region, Floral Concept is touted to bring artisanal expertise with transformation capabilities. The company maintains a portfolio of natural fragrance ingredients derived from botanicals such as jasmine, rose, orange blossom, ambrette, and blackcurrant.
“Joining Symrise allows us to preserve our craftsmanship, the quality of our products, and trusted relationships while gaining access to a broad global platform and new opportunities for innovation and growth,” says Frédérique Rémy, general manager at Floral Concept.
The financial details of the acquisition remain confidential.
Maintaining heritage in acquisition
Symrise has completed the acquisition of Floral Concept to expand its premium naturals portfolio.
According to Symrise, an immediate priority of the acquisition is business continuity, stating that Floral Concept’s customer intimacy, producer network, and technical know-how are central to the rationale for the acquisition.
Aligned with the One Symrise strategy, the transaction works in tandem with the company’s capital allocation and active portfolio management priorities. The acquisition is said to advance Symrise’s portfolio optimization strategy and its targets to deliver resilient, profitable growth and strong cash flow.
Through the acquisition, customers will gain access to a broader Premium Naturals palette, enhanced sourcing and transformation expertise, and access to Symrise’s global fragrance capabilities.
“Together, Floral Concept and Maison Lautier 1795 combine premium naturals expertise with the customer proximity and producer relationships that distinguish both businesses,” says Ricardo Omori, president of Global Scent Division at Symrise.
“Our ambition is to set a new benchmark for creativity, quality, and sustainability in perfumery.”
