Taylor Swift’s birthday look sees “red lipstick” searches soar online
19 Dec 2023 --- A red hot trend emerged this week thanks to Taylor Swift stepping out for her birthday wearing her signature red lipstick.
Analysis of Google search data reveals online searches for “red lipstick” soared 376% in the US after the star was spotted Wednesday night celebrating her 34th birthday in Manhattan, New York.
Misumi Skincare says online interest in red lipstick increased almost five times the average volume while silver bag searches also sparkled, rising 400%.
Swift wore a statement silver handbag to complement her little black dress, faux fur jacket and open-toed heels. “Little black dress” searches climbed a whopping 614%.
Misumi Skincare says, “Red lipstick is a popular look for many celebrities, but it’s rare that we see Taylor Swift without her trademark lips. Pictures of the singer’s star-studded birthday celebrations took the internet by storm, with many Swifties quick to spot the popstar’s signature beauty look that has accompanied her through all her different eras.”
“From matte to gloss, red lipstick is a staple look all-year round, especially during the festive season. These findings provide a perfect example of the ‘Taylor Swift effect,’ highlighting her enduring ability to inspire and influence beauty choices with a single appearance.”
Red to remain hot in 2024
The internet reigns supreme in influencing personal care and beauty trends. 2023 was seen by many as the year of “Barbie pink,” but according to online beauty retailer Look Fantastic, 2024 will be a strong year for red.
The vibrant color was ubiquitous in the beauty world this year, and experts believe it will continue to attract attention.
Return of retro ingredients
The Beauty Health Company compiled its 2024 Skintuition Report using clinical studies and proprietary data.
It predicts the beauty market will see an increase in skin care professionals trying to help consumers achieve flawless skin.
“Retro ingredients” will also return, with “novel delivery methods and a growing interest in body — especially booty — skin care treatments.”
