Univar Solutions and Angus Chemical Company scale North America distribution partnership for beauty chemicals
01 May 2023 --- Univar Solutions has entered an expanded exclusive distribution agreement with Angus Chemical Company, covering the beauty and personal care market in the US and Canada. Angus is a global manufacturer of specialty chemistries and ingredients for personal and home care, life sciences and industrial markets.
“Our global Solution Center network and on-the-ground application specialists are delivering practical technical solutions to help customers meet the latest trends, regulatory requirements and their sustainability goals,” comments Tony Jaillot, global VP of beauty and personal care for Univar Solutions.
“Together with Angus, we can deliver botanical ingredients and the consistent, reliable service that local customers are seeking, no matter where they are in the world.”
Multifunctional amino alcohols
With the expanded agreement, Univar Solutions added Angus’ broad portfolio of natural botanical extracts complementing its existing portfolio of Angus’ high-purity Altra PC multifunctional amino alcohols.
The botanical extracts are produced by Angus in the US using sustainably sourced raw materials, with supporting documentation. Botanical extracts are widely used by formulators and brand owners to enhance the luxury and labeling of the latest hair, skin and sun care and color cosmetics formulations.
“Both of our companies have decades of experience and market expertise in the life sciences, personal care and pharmaceutical markets,” says Debby Neubauer, global business manager for home and personal care at Angus Chemical Company.
“Together with the operations and logistics capabilities of Univar Solutions, we are well-positioned to deliver unprecedented science, quality and the supply chain excellence brand owners need for their natural botanical extracts.”
Univar Solutions has over 40 Angus botanical extracts available in the US and Canada, including rosemary leaf, sage leaf, vanilla bean, white tea leaf, yarrow and dozens of others.
Univar Solutions’ joint activities with Angus Chemical Company reaches back to May last year, when the partnership extended their distribution agreement in the home care sector.
Univar business highlights
It is currently “business as usual” at Univar Solutions as the dust settles following the company’s march announcement that Apollo Funds plans to acquire the chemical and ingredients distributor for US$8.1 billion.
The transaction is expected to close in the second half of the year and as a result, Univar Solutions will become a privately held company.
In earlier talks of the acquisition, Brenntag confirmed the possibilities of a deal last November, but pulled out of these discussions early this year.
Among other recent highlights, the company strengthened its distribution partnership with Dow to distribute Dow Organics’ personal care and beauty brands in Brazil. This came alongside its inauguration of a Solution Center in Essen, Germany, to assist ingredient and specialty chemical research and product formulation application development across Europe.
Univar Solutions also expanded its polymer business to Europe by advancing its distribution partnership with China-based Boai Nky Pharmaceuticals. It included dye transfer inhibitors for liquid and powder detergent formulations.
