Vichy adds prebiotics serum to its Minéral 89 collection to tackle signs of aging
15 Sep 2021 --- Vichy Laboratoires is launching Minéral 89 Prebiotic Recovery & Defense Concentrate, within its Minéral 89 product collection, formulated with prebiotics to fight visible signs of aging brought on by stress.
“Vichy is researching exposome aggressors and their impact on the skin,” says Jasteena Gill, head of brand for Vichy Laboratoires USA.
“The expansion of the Minéral 89 line underscores our commitment to advancing skin health and introducing products that not only accelerate skin repair but protect the skin against future aggressors,” she notes.
According to Innova Market Insights, microbiome personal care products are gaining momentum as they respond to consumer demands for safety, naturality and effectiveness.
Personal care products that feature a prebiotic and/or probiotic claim have witnessed an average annual growth of 73 percent these past five years (Global, CAGR 2016-2020).
Youthful looking skin
The Minéral 89 Prebiotic Recovery & Defense Concentrate delivers clinical results of 45% increased radiance, 28% improved texture, and 23% reduction of fine lines in four weeks.
The serum, which is dermatologically tested and suitable for sensitive skin, recovers healthy-looking skin and defends against visible signs of stress, including dryness, dullness and fine lines.
This serum is formulated with three key ingredients:
- Vichy Volcanic Water is naturally sourced from French volcanoes and clinically proven to strengthen the skin’s natural defenses from exposome aggressors.
- 5% vitreoscilla ferment, a nutrient-rich component of non-living bacteria known to have skin barrier recovery properties when grown in the presence of Vichy Volcanic Water.
- 4% niacinamide and vitamin E, which are antioxidants known to help visibly even skin tone.
The face serum also boasts a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic and allergy-tested formula.
Against stress
Minéral 89 Prebiotic is the newest product to join the Minéral 89 line, alongside Minéral 89 Skin Fortifying Daily Booster Serum and Minéral 89 Hyaluronic Acid Eye Gel.
To use, consumers can apply 2-3 drops of Minéral 89 Prebiotic each morning and evening on cleansed skin as a first step in the skincare routine before layering on any chosen serums and finishing with a moisturizer.
“Stress has a damaging effect on the skin barrier and its ability to repair itself. It’s critical to find products that aid in restoring balance,” notes board-certified dermatologist Marisa Garshick. “The ingredients in the new Vichy Prebiotic Recovery & Defense Concentrate are clinically proven to help counteract the impact of stress and other exposome aggressors and noticeably improve the look and feel of skin.”
Skin microbiome moves
The skin’s microbiome is a fast-rising trend due to its holistic approach to skin health. In this realm, Dermala launched a daily moisturizer for blemish-prone skin, called OAT So Sweet, formulated with prebiotics and postbiotics.
Dermala also received a US patent for solutions that utilize the skin and the gut microbiome to slow down the skin aging process. The company’s technology uses microbiome formulations and delivery methods to restore biologically “younger” skin and gut microbiomes in older adults.
Givaudan Active Beauty previously unveiled a microbiome-friendly ingredient that targets oily skin through sebum regulation.
Meanwhile, L’Oréal and Dutch company Micreos combined their expertise in biotechnology to explore skin microbiome therapeutics.
