Walmart teams up with Space NK to launch BeautySpace featuring top beauty brands
07 Mar 2022 --- Retail giant Walmart has teamed up with personal care company Space NK to create a beauty space offering cultivated luxury items. The collaboration leverages Walmart’s scale to bring high-end products to consumers.
Walmart and Space NK’s project is launching on March 15 on Walmart’s website, with BeautySpace set to arrive in at least 250 US Walmart locations this summer.
BeautySpace will offer users over 600 products from 15 labels, ranging from legacy brands to up-and-coming names in the beauty space, including some exclusive to Walmart. More brands are set to be added to the roster throughout the year.
BeautySpace’s offerings will fall under four categories: skincare, makeup, hair care and bath and body. Brands will span a lofty range, including luxe to indie, award-winning and plant-based products.
Consumers at 250 Walmart locations will have access to top-of-the-line beauty products.Brands on offer will include By Terry, Lancer, Mario Badescu, Patchology, Mio, Babe Original, Eyeko, Grow Gorgeous and more.
“We have curated the very best of beauty for their customers, allowing them to shop prestige beauty when, where and how they choose,” says Andy Lightfoot, CEO at Space NK.
One-stop shopping experience
With E-commerce options taking over, retailers must continually improve consumers’ physical shopping experience in order for in-person shopping to remain relevant. Last week, Walmart released a digital try-on tool for clothing to help consumers see how clothes fit before they purchase them online or go in-store to try clothes on.
With the launch of Walmart and Space NK’s BeautySpace, the companies are making in-person shoppers’ experience more convenient. Consumers will now be able to go to Walmart for “prestige” beauty products in addition to all other items the retailer has on offer.
The companies’ emphasis on high-end products, with exclusive releases planned for the spaces, is set to elevate all of Walmart’s beauty offers.
Walmart appears to be growing its beauty portfolio in all directions. Last month, the company teamed up with Madame CJ Walker to offer more hair care options for naturally textured hair.
In September, the company teamed up with beauty giant Bobbi Brown to offer tasty chocolate Beauty Bites to promote beauty-from-within.
In fiscal 2022, Walmart recorded a revenue of US$573 billion.
